His whole statement is disproved - he's got an essential fact totally wrong. Steve Lawler's set wasn't boring AT ALL. If this one guy had actually been there he would have seen how crazy the crowd got and felt the incredible energy Lawler brought.

Again you are trying to argue a SUBJECTIVE point. This means everyone is entitled to their opinion. I've been to clubs before where "the crowd" was getting off on the music, but I thought it sucked a big fat ASS.

By only looking at this arguement from the view of how the crowd reacted, you have missed the entire point of the post. I didn't post this because I thought he sucked or because I thought the night was bad, I wasn't even there.

I posted this so that when you go to see a DJ, any DJ, you can pay attention to the details. Moreover I hope you see that some of the local guys who are fighting for the headlining spots that Steve Lawler and others take up, deserve those spots more because they're working 3X as hard as these guys, and not faking sets.

Also a perfect example of a set where the crowd was going crazy was George Acosta at Spundae this last year. The crowd was going wild, but his mixing sucked, his track selection was the worst I had ever heard in my life, and he was BORING!!!! Marco V had just gotten off the decks and had blown up the place. People here on TA posted that George was AMAZING and blew them away. I hated him. But I didn't argue with them because music is SUBJECTIVE, meaning everyone has their opinion and a right to it, and the reaction by "the crowd" doesn't always dictate people's opinions, and it shouldn't. If you're a real TranceAddict, someone who can't live without trance music playing 24/7 like myself, you don't let the crowd dictate your night at the club. It's all about the music.

I don't believe Steve would do such a thing. He's well accomplished and could easily play for hours on end.

Exactly...he is not Oakenfold...he's a class act and has proven it in the past (Best DJ in Ibiza 2003 and 2004).

I think this guy just has a problem with him...

Okay, first of all, Lawler's set was I would say 95% flawless...but I actually heard him mess up on some of his efx work a few times (it was slightly off) I stood at the side of the stage and watched him cue up tracks on CDJ and mix in...and unless he is REALLY good at faking it...I can swear that he was responsible for the live sound that was coming out.

Second..of course I dont let the crowd dictate how good the night is...I DO. I go for the music more than anything else...and the music Lawler played was awesome. We shook his hand when he was on his way out too. I dont see any reason why he would fake it...he played last weekend BACK to BACK with Sasha in Toronto, and I have video and pics of them mixing...and they were having a blast...especially Lawler. e played on Thursday night in Denver and rocked there too...and I have DJ friends, and EDM guru friends who said nothing about it being faked...why he would fake it here is just unimaginable...

It really sounds like the guy who claims he faked it just has something personal against lawler...because I thought the set rocked and so did all the other tranceaddicts with me. And so did the entire avalon crowd.

Anyways... was there and I had an incredible time and that is really all that matters...

Clovis, that was a good post. Thanks for putting things in perspective. Again I wasn't there I only posted this because I saw it.

Sure man...no hard feelings :)

I can see whay you would respect the guys at Red....but dude...that guy was either on too much drugs or just had a vendetta against Steve.
