Coming from a prog-whore...That makes sense. |

To each their own. I think Avalon works well for Prog - and I think its about to work well for Trance as well.....on Fridays. :D
Its just a different experience. |

I think every Club Goes threw it's peaks and vallys. Some Nights are uber packed and they are turning people away at the door.. Other nights They are all most begging people to come in the doors.
Yes I have to agree with Curly... the Spundae line up's have been pretty week. In Fact I took a break from Spundae for over a month!!!:eyes: ( For the past 3 years I would go all most every saturday)
I am so happy Heaven is here in La. Spundae and or Avlon would never bring in Solarstone, Nu Nrg, Phynn, A&N... Why b/c they are not "big enough" for major clubs.. Meaning they feel they won't pull the #'s they need for a night.
Yes Right now Spundae is at a low point... But have faith it will come back and come back stonger then ever. |

| I think Spundae have had a lull over the past 6 weeks or so, with all of the House DJs and all of that. I'm sure it will pick up with some exciting stuff in August. :) |

Everyone has good points in here and I think they are both great clubs tbh. Los Angeles is a very tough market for electronic music if you really think about it. How many clubs can really last in LA w/o playing hip hop and Mainstream RnB crap. These are really big venues to fill also. It really is a great risk for all the promoters and club owners to cater to electronic music. Of Course, when u have Tiesto and Armin, the venue will be packed but what about on the other nights? Its very hard to keep a consistent turnout on a weekly basis.
Each caters to its own and I do not have a biased opinion on either or. I've been going to the Circus Venue since the first week Giant opened in January of 2000. Lets just say we are lucky enough to have a place to go on Friday and Saturday night. Sweetcandy girl ur absolutely right about the peaks and valleys. We also have to remember its summer time now and the big names have European tours ending with Ibiza in late August. However, the one thing that has really impressed me the most about Heaven is that Leon brings the names that all the tranceaddicts know. These are producers and djs who the general mainstream audience that attend clubs don't know. Its a real big risk to do this when u don't have the big name headlining.
My verdict is that my home on Friday night is Heaven and Satuday night is Spundae;) Enjoy the music!!! |

Maybe it's not intentional but subconsciously, it's like they are feeding off of each other. |
I agree. Witness how successful the Heaven crew is being at Spundae...
Strictly in terms of lineup, I would say that Heaven has consistenly brought in more of the kind of artists whose music I like, and that makes a big difference. OTOH, Spundae may be able to afford bigger names sometimes.
But in the end, we really can't complain that we have this much to choose from :) Where else can they say the same thing? So let's not worry about which one is better and just enjoy both, since they are nice enough not to overlap!! |

Prog whore? I would be there in a second for trance aswell (AUGUST 26th)
I just love their sound system...EQing is perfect...clear highs, deep bass...and the theatre style setup is much better in terms of acoustics imo. I enjoy the whole setup, with back patio and then balcony where you can overlook the whole dance floor.
I have never been to Spundae though...so I can't compare the two.
Each club has its respective faults (Avalon smoking patio...wtf is that) and its respective pluses...but on a whole I enjoy the atmosphere at Avalon...it seems much more serious and proffesional., even though the crowd is not always the best.
And yes...I do enjoy prog more than trance but that doesnt mean dont like the latter...I am open to almost all genres...even DnB! |

I have never been to Spundae though...so I can't compare the two. | Spundae has a huge patio, a real one and also has two areas upstairs, one over looking the main dance floor and the other overlooking the outside patio. :tongue2

It sounds like Heaven is an amazing club and if they are into it for the Music then their stock deffinitely goes up in my book. Living in NorCal I've never gone to Heaven so I can't really compare. Spundae tho has brought great djs and the fact that they brought Markus to headline at the Mezzanine a few weeks ago totally rocked. Therefore until I get a chance to experience Heaven, I go with Spundae.
But it sounds like they both throw great parties and attempt to bring out the best talent in EDM.
