CPU Stutter effect

Today I was working on my track when I realised I was getting some pretty cool sounding effects from my computer stuttering.

Its not really a gating effect, its slightly different.

Does anybody know how to recreate this effect?

Thanks

sound forge: gapper/snipper?

My thought would be to render the track to audio and just chop it (don't actually cut parts out, just move them).

I think in general when people do this, they want to emulate the "record skip", so it's not just stuttering but actually playing the same material over and over again... which would involve mostly the same process - splice, duplicate, move.

It sounds to me like you want to emulate the stutter effect used so much by hybrid, BT and a whole raft of glitch electronica producers.

Try doing it with NI Battery - it has a very useful stutter generator to mangle your sounds

There was a really good article about this in Remix Mag a while back. Here's a link:

Fractal Tendancies

Also, from what I've read, BT is a big fan of Kyma, but it seems to be pretty complicated and takes a while to get some suitable results (even though when you get them it sounds awesome). I tend to just chop stuff up myself. it takes a little bit of gruntwork, but the effort is usually well worth my while :)

In Fruity Loops Its easy to do just use the hold button and u can do it to individual samples or load the whole track into the fruity granulizer right click on the hold button and edit events where u want the track to have the stutter effect.

so lets say u normaly use reason to produce

save your track as a .wav load into fruity granulizer your whole track and just use the hold button right click edit events play track thru and envelope where u want the hold to kick in put in playlist save it as mp3 and ur done.
