Rapture has got to be the song of the year.
It crosses so many different kinds of music with each remix.
This song was simply amazing from the first time I heard it on Danny Howells @ Grooveradio then Digweed @ KISS100FM (30-06-01).
I hear it at least 2x a day...and it never gets old. You can switch from remix to remix.
It's got my vote for song of the year. |

Definately one of the spectacular tunes of 2001, especially hearing that MOS has rejected Armin Van Buuren Remix, causing him to pair up with sister label, United Recordings to press only 500 copies of his remix. My brother and I have stocked up on a few copies, in case of a rainy day :)
However, it's been over-canned, by the likes of Oakenfold, Tiesto...just to name a few big names....it's gone kinda stale, IMO.
This year, I have been geared relatively towards the progressive aspect of music. Here are my votes for the year:
1) Max Graham - Sepia
2) PQM - You are sleeping
3) Way Out West - MindCircus
4) Slide Vs Healey - Fear
5) Satoshi Tommie - Virus
6) Manticore - Slaves (Branaccio & Aisher Remix)
7) JSJ - Deep Love 9 (11.5 Remix)
8) Science Dept - Breathe (Lexicon Avenue Dub)
9) Lula - The DJ, Music & Me (DifferentGear Remix)
10) Taste Experience - Highlander |

I agree.. Rapture looks to be the tune of the year. I wouldn't call it MY tune of the year, but this one is HUGE!! And it transecds many genres!! You've got the mega tracners by Riva and Armin "god" Buuren, a little more proggie with the 2 Deep Dish mixes.. the original is a taste of vocal house, the Soul Side remix is chill like ice cream. Of course.. I think the vocals are really what make this track.. very.. intoxicating.. "the night i laid my eyes on you.. felt everything around me move.. got nervous when you walked my way.. but you knew all the wrods to say.." hehehe.. a great song.
(ps: avb remix 4ever!) |

I think they were quite right to, IMO the armin mix isnt really as special as all the hype said it was. But yeah, the Deep Dish Mix is 100% wicked :D i dunno about putting it at number one for tune of the year tho...i have been tied between hard stuff and prog all year, so for the hard stuff my number one so far would be... Either SHOKK - Isnt It All A Little Strange (Krazy Nut Mix) ooooor Gollum & Yanny - Shadows & Lights.. then in the proggie bit i would go for either 3phase - Der Klang Der Familie (James Holden Remix) or Southern Comforter - Another Late Thursday (Spincycle Remix) |
