Ambient Mix: Because man cannot live on Trance alone.

This is a ambient mix I did a couple of years ago under my Reef Project name called "Music To Watch Fish By". I only made 200 copies on CD and they went rather fast. The music on here is pretty much beatless and in my opinion, perfect for falling asleep to. If you need some music to relax to...something to study too...this is the mix. I hope you like it. Please let me know what you think. I also included a couple of my own productions in the mix as well. Enjoy.

You don't...well sometimes you can...but this is a almost beatless mix...so what you are doing is really mixing textures...trying to create a story in different way then just beatmatching.

ive heard it done various ways.

mixing a keyed element like a pad or such is a good method, you can use non melodic samples such as a voice or a natural element like wind noise, rain, ocean, etc to help move from one place to another.

back in the day when FSOL did a few essential mixes on 1fm before it was radio 1, they used numerous methods of beatless mixing, that when you listen to it, are honestly mindblowing.

downloading this too thee-o, where all these mixes coming from today?
the cd book in my car will be quite happy with them :)

LOL...actually I am converting as many old mixtapes as I can to mp3 as well as old mixes I have lying around on other media...now that the wedding is over and the studio isn't up quite yet...I have some free time to do this... :)
