been twice and had an amazing time. coming back from guv one morning i walked buy this homeless guy about my age and he asked me if i could spare any change. i felt bad cause he was a good lookin kid and probably just going through some tough times. i said no i'm sorry i don't have anything, he looked at me and said "alright well thanks anyways have a good day." and he ment it really sincerely. i swear i would have given him a 10 or a 20 if i had it on me after that. i was like wait a minute? he just thanked us for not doing anything? that would never happen in nyc.

i was just amazed at how nice everyone was and how clean the city was. amazing place can't wait to go back.

I wouldn't mind living in Canda durring the summers but not sure if I could handle the winters. Canda is such a beautiful country.....so much to do....fishing, camping, hunting.....I would be in heaven durring the summer. Toronto is a great city with lots of things to do. It has a great night life and plenty of great places to eat. Shoping there is insane also. Not to mention they have a much more stable Government than the US. (flame suit on!!!!);)

I can only remember 2 afterhour clubs in montreal. STEREO and ARIA ! ;)

I grew up near toronto, and the people are the friendliest you can find, and its also super-duper clean! amazing nightlife, shopping, dining, etc...I actaully plan on living there when I am said and done with school. I would recommend it to anyone. The crime the is pratically non-existent as well, and VERY cultural and accepting of many types of people. York and Mississagua are nice suburbs for a fam.

Montreal: Great nightlife, gorgeous suburbs and housing, NOT the best place to raise a fam (imo). Downtown is filled with strip clubs, sex shops, etc....good for you, not for them! LOL...PLus the french are s, and you never know how long the french side will be apart of Canada anymore anyways (Separatist e).

Ottawa and Niagara falls: boring and cold. Both have nice burbs, but I wouldn't really recommend!

montreal is probably my fav. city... i think its a lot better then nyc. seriously, its got this very european feel to it.. esp. since mostly everyone speaks french. Also, there is a area in montreal called "old montreal" which 'n looks and feels like your in france..cobble street roads, a lot of bistro, brasserie type restaurants. And the night life.. forget about it...montreal has a much better nightlife then nyc hands down. I was there for the Formula one weekend couple years ago(to see armin and tiesto) and that city was NUTS. they shut down some streets and had this outdoor event in the middle of the city. i would highly recommend you go to montreal.. its a perfect city for a couple.. very romantic city.

i absolutely love canada, there is no place like toronto or montreal anywhere in america... culturally it has it beat, by far. just the way things happen just takes your breath away from an american perspective.
toronto would prob be the easiest adjustment, coming from ny i'd say. but if change is what you want, montreal is definately something to think about... it's where i may be in the fall for school actually.
cost of living wise, toronto is pretty high, but i suppose when compared to ny that's not entirely true at all... though wait until you see how low it is in montreal!!! much cheaper!
theres tons of fairly descent sized urban areas within a short drive of toronto too, i.e. hamilton/mississaugua/gueplh to name a few that no one really has ever even heard of that are all much smaller than t-dot, if you want to get out of the city.
yea... the winter is cold, but you learn to adjust... believe me, there is so much there that makes it absolutely worth it.

I took a cruise to Canada back in 2000. I've been to Halifax, NS and St. John, NB.

being a Canadian citizen, working in the usa (chicago) under a work visa for 3 yrs i feel like i've already done what you want to do

first of all

in order to work in Canada as an American citizen, you will need to apply for the H1B visa (hard to get) or the TN1 visa (easier to get but you must have a college degree...i had this for 3 yrs straight)

pluses
+ clean (compare detroit to windsor)
+ universal healthcare (not usa's crappy HMO )
+ quality education (ivy league education at 1/10 the cost. it costs $5000/year for one year at UToronto, and $30000/year for my grad school at Northwestern)
+ better EDM scene... ie. compare the Guvernment to Exit. Toronto gets a huge influx of edm dj's, better than Chicago and on par with the Big Apple

minuses
- not as much opportunity as the USA (nyc/chicago/la have HUGE work opportunities in whatever field you are interested in)
- exchange rate sucks. you are basically making 70 cents to the us Dollar. don't come to Canada for it's worthless currency

if you have any other questions lemme know!

for any of you nyta's who might visit Toronto (i am living here now) in the near future.. Labor of Love.. please lemme know! Daniela you better visit me!!!! :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
