- Is the master/slave shim set properly?
- Is the drive formatted? |

| I would guess that it's a problem with the drive, then. Either that, or there's a problem with some driver in Windows. |

| yah its an old hd with important on it, i dont know why it doesn't work, my dad bought a new hd, and then went to copy the old onto the new one, and it didn't show up. i'm not an idiot about this kinda stuff, but i have no ing clue, except it might be broken. |

I have an idea- and it could help.
Right click on My Computer, click on Manage, click on Disk Management, and make sure the hard driver is assigned a drive letter. Or change the drive letter (in case it coincides with your CD or DVD drive).
In fact, I'm quite sure this IS the problem since you have so many drive or "mounted" drives.
Good luck |

| i would do that, but it doesn't work on my dads computer when it only has a hard drive and a cdrom. i've tried booting from the drive as well, nothing. >: ( |
