oh sorry, didn't realize I had to spell it out for u

wasn't saying that HG Wells is a bad story/plot writer but that this kind of story has been done to death by now

Yea she is a VERY good actress, and it pissed me off how so many huge cities were demolished and little ol' boston is fine. and they are inside their homes drinking their cups of tea in red sox mugs*not like they were but probably*. thats the only thing i didnt like. the ending made me MAD.

HAHAH i didn't wanna say anything but yea, that's what annoyed me too...it was so dumb how they all came out perfectly groomed with their house in tact like, "oh hi dear ur just in time for the pot roast i've been making while the rest of the upper east coast has been under attack by giant robotic aliens" :stongue:

this is true, but that doesn't make the movie any less entertaining if you ask me. yea, the plot was a lot like M. Knight Shamanandadaldjaldja's "Signs", but like i said, the special effects were ridiculous and it had decent acting.

by the way, who was the son of tom cruise? total hottie...

nou: See you just proved someone elses post. Lets read what another person has to say and follow it.

Just watch the damn movie and make your own decision instead of being a idiot:whip:

This movie was entertaining and detailwise quite loyal to the novel (partly), even more than the 1953 movie version was (from where Richard Burton's speech has been sampled in several tracks) and the version which i still prefer after the novel. I want to see the other new War of The Worlds movies too, that are coming out this year. They are much lower budget and at least the other one is set to happen in much earlier time too.. in 19th century or something like that.

Never read the book..

I found this movie to be nothing less then amazing!!!!!!!! .. I was so tense throughout the whole movie, non-stop for 2 hrs... and for a movie to do that is has to be good. Tom Cruise acting was great I think.. it just made it seem very real..

i thought it was okay, but for some reason i was under the impression it was a 3 part movie. after reading up on it more, it doesn't seem that way.

morgan freeman as the narrator? didn't like that. i thought cruise did just fine, there was NO plot, a lot of things were not explained nor made any sense.

the book is very short, but i mean we were lookin at alien crafts 5 minutes into the movie
Slylee
morgan freeman has a perfect narrator voice, what are u talking about?

well bsoton isnt fineits like demolished but its weird how the family is fine in their house at the end and the rest is destroyed. great movie though
DjConfessions
is there some kind of underlying tone to this movie? i've only read statements here and there about special effects, but my sources close to Bahgdad are saying that it reflects on the human species growing so big to do the same the Half Life 2 Strider being are doing to them in the movie. Would earth attack another country....i mean, planet? are we destined to do that with our ideas of domination and demolition?

malek
ok for people here who are bitching about the end. if you're so smart why don't you propose an ending in here? Because obviously humans are owned so bad that its a complete massacre and it could've ended like that.

So, all you folks out there, come with a good ending not involving a 6 parts movies (a la star crap).

Yeah I noticed the thing with their van too! After everything is destroyed, all the cars were upside down the houses torn apart, but of course they go outside and their van is in perfect working absolutely brilliant...From a filmmakers point of view, Spielberg's imagery and the moods and feelings he created were flawless, I can't remember the last time I was so into a movie!

Morgan Freeman = perfect narrator, especially for a movie like this, I don't know why someone said he sucked.

Malek: I'd never read the book or seen the other movie, so personally I was hoping they would just all die at the end! That would've been a nice, sinister ending that would've left everyone uncomfortable leaving the theater...But in Hollywood all the loose ends have to be tied so everyone's happy!
