promise cherry beach sunday afternoon soundsystem
a Canada Day Weekend special
As is tradition, we bring together an extra special Cherry Beach party in honour of the Canada day weekend. We celebrate the country we live in and the fact that we can put together parties like this out in the open here. In many other places we would be shut down and perhaps arrested if we tried to socialize like this, and it's a testament to a wonderful place that we are free to enjoy getting together like this. We keep special musical treats for this weekend and the party is usually really active. Don’t miss the sunset.
Bring a frisbee, bring a kite, bring a handy sweater, bring a dog (only nice dogs), bring your lover and a hammock. And pass the time on this lazy sunny sunday afternoon with friends and friends of friends.

directions:
Take Lakeshore Blvd East of Toronto just past Parliament. Then turn south down Cherry Street all the way to the parking lot at the end and go east into the parking lot at your left. At the furthest east of the parking lot, walk along the bike path, then turn left up into the trail into the woods… you'll hear music. If you end up at the lake, you are going the wrong way.
Biking to Cherry Beach is easy along the trails beside the lakeshore, and there seems to be a new bus service that goes all the way down to the beach, finally.
things to think about:
Please don't bring more than you plan to take back out with you - leave no trace.
Bring something warm (it gets cool after dark by the lake) and something to sit on and also something to keep sun off your head.
Drink lots of water.
Bring something to share.
If weather turns foul the day of, call 416 323 0361 for the contingency plan. |

You never know what to expect at these parties, with the Canada Day party always topping them all. Last year had stilt walkers & fire jugglers & samba drummers.
Its a great, chill, positive vibe. |
