im not sure if this has been a thread before..probably it has.
but i would like to have a clear definition of all the genres in trance...
i guess its not only me who has this problem; when you hear a track you can indentify which genre it belongs to, but if someone asks you whats unique for this genre, it getting harder to explain...
can anyone help me out here????? |

Let's see.. for trance I think these are some of the main sub-genres:
Melodic, Uplifting, Epic, Progressive, Hard, Goa/Psy, Ambient..
Don't ask me to put much IN them.. I just know those are some of the sub-genres. |

check out www.ishkur.com and go to "ishkur's guide to electronic music". some people say its not totally accurate, but its a place to start.

| ishkur's electronic music guide is crap. His 'descriptions' are based on whether he likes the music or not, instead of what the music actually is. I was enjoying Children by Robert Miles as the Dream Trance track, only to go and read the 'description', to find out I was being called a for liking this. Bastard. |

| I agree with Mosaic. The only good thing about ishkur's guide is that he has sound samples of each genre, but don't expect any decent descriptions of the music. |
