can someone explain to me the meaning behind the wording of deep dish featuring sharam?
sharam has been half of deep dish from the start back in 91, its not like hes a new addition that needs mention, never seen deep dish featuring ali on a flyer...
is sharam the only one playing? why not say sharam (deep dish, yooshi...)if thats the case..
or am i reading too much into the wording on that? |

Basically it's saying that only Sharam will be playing that night. Ali is known as Dubfire.
Dubfire is playing here in SF so the night it being called "Deep Dish featuring Dubfire" ...
Basically, through chunks of their tour, they tour seperately. And who is playing where determines the "featuring Dubfire" or "featuring Sharam"
Why like this? Marketing. People are going to know "Deep Dish" far more than just "Sharam" or "Dubfire"
And the use of the wording is just on the classy side. I mean, it's more classy than simply saying "Sharam of Deep Dish" or something.
When they are playing together, it'll simply say Deep Dish and no more.
In the end, they actually probably tour seperately more often than together these days. |

its not deepdish if only have of them is in the venue, its just sharam.

I agree.
But at this point in their careers I would rather see Sharam solo. I seem to prefer his portion of the set when they play together. |

| good explanation dave... beyond that, all booking agencies require certain billings for artists on certain shows. This just happens to be the way they want to market their artists--especially in light of the new CD being released... and rightfully so, as mentioned above, the name Deep Dish is a little more recognizable than Sharam. |

| I'd like to, but these midweek shows are tough. I did go see Deep Dish's recent set at 4th and B, and I saw Dubfire last time he was at OB. I really enjoyed both shows. Have fun. |

| This show will be much better than the average On Broadway fare... we're putting a little more into the production side of things. Beefing up the sound a bit, bringing in some extra lighting, and focusing on the visuals a little bit more. Additionally for anyone that was confused, the event will be held upstairs due to capacity issues with the karma lounge. |
