Plenty of boring moments where I am, its like a dull throb of arthritis but going into 'town' where things are mildly more amusing and often quite nasty involves packing a taxi full of friends and about a $150 worth of fares there and back because public transport is a state funded nightmare.
Alcohol is cheap though, even the boutique beers here cost about the same as a regular pint of lager in the UK, spirits slightly more than regular beer which by and large isnt that bad in terms of quality.
You shouldnt knock the food though. It makes the UK stuff look quite pale in comparison and at least half the prices, very good quality.
Course, I'm starting to creep into that age where I'm just as happy curled up at home with a bottle rather than face a night of having my eardrums blown to pieces and putting up with the local hooligans has long ceased to be even slightly amusing.

WOW! I think I recognize a part of the Surfers Paradise circuit right there, from a videogame! You had a view right into the racing circuit? :eyes:

The restaurant sounds like the frontier outpost. At times I actually enjoy my walk back from the pub, it's my weekly dose of good old fashioned British working class culture.

It wouldn't be complete without the wannabe yardies hanging around a BMW outside that dodgy pub, weird crusty hippy types in the alternative pub off their faces on Acid, a random girl throwing up against that wall another girl was being sick up the week before, the skinheads abusing the turkish kebab house staff then proceeding to throw the furniture through the front window, the old bill speeding down the road in squad cars, aviation blondes going to the local meat market to be fitted up by some random strangers, and the good old fashioned shop crew of chav's trying to steal cigarettes and booze.

There is never a dull moment.

LOL Good old England, love to hate it.
