i would say that PRO TOOLS it is the most professional....it is offering a lot more than software.most of the schools use PRO TOOLS ... never knew why before but if you have time ... take a trip at the SAE institute. |

well, its the MIDI functions in Pro Tools that lets it down.. but yeah.. most of the commercial tune made is made with Pro Tools.. proffesional studios use that the most, that, and Logic.. :) |

I vote on personal preference. Do you like doggie style or missionary, how about anal? Same concept. Its about what feels best. It is likely that you once you loose your sequencer environment virginity to a particular program, you'll really have a hard time venturing out beyond your "first love". Soon enough though you'll move on to other software environments and at first you might not feel comfortable, but as you stick with it, you may find yourself a new steady. Sometimes it doesn't go that way and just winds up a booty call or a one-night-stand. I'm a firm believer that while you can master one sexual position, it's also good to change it up a bit. For example, I primarily prefer to use Logic for creating and for automation (Pro Tools is also a great tool for automation). However Logic doesn't have a dithering plug-in available that I like. Since I don't own a Rosetta 800, I have to use Pro Tools TDM or Cubase SX to dither with UV22HR. Naturally, it gets expensive the more tools you use, kind of like messing arouind with 4 different girls every week. Bottom line: I have my preferences but I also like to have options. Sometimes I wish my girlfriend were more like me ;) J/K lene! |

I don't think there's something like "the most professional" software. Alot of people can get good tracks out of everything. Look at Airbase, what he has cranked out of Reason - does that make you want to quit it? Look at what other artists can get out of Cubase, Logic, FL Studio, the lot.
In the end it all depends on the artist who makes the sounds, not the software who is going to make it for them. Period.
Personally, I'd say to go for any environment that supports vst instruments. There's a vast improvement in those areas going on for quite a while, and loads of producers are turning full-time on them (discarding their hardware).
Now take your pick ;) |

Now take your pick ;) | yes and quite frankly.. and that makes them sound rather boring imo, hardware is the sound to go for imo.. it sounds the best, period.. for real trance tracks that is..
imagine Push was starting to use VST Instruments, it would definitely decrease his sound..
and, there ARE programs that ARE more proffesional than other, cause they offer more possibilities, thats all.. |

you sir are a producer elitist. wot uve said is bollox. its all wot the producer makes of working with whatever they are working with. u can argue to high heaven about wot is better but the fact is there are hundreds of producers working with vst alone and no hardware and are still making not only signable tracks but tracks that are heading dj's fav tunes lists. |

I would actually be quite astonished if Push wouldn't use any vst instruments at all...
I can understand many producers are still worshipping hardware, though vst's are getting closer and closer day by day. I'm not saying they will be better sounding than a hardware synth, but perhaps just as good - to the level a regular listener wouldn't even notice any difference. |
