Poverty is a huge problem, but I dont think it's one that throwing money at is going to help.
Needy people will get some, but millitants, soldiers, and governments will take (forcibly if needed) the rest. |

How do you consider poverty as being bull? The idea of ending poverty might seem wishful, but the issue is real.

All this does is raise awareness. How about raising some money? I think we're all quite "aware" of the problems over there. Maybe the concert shouldn't have been free... but you know... maybe charge a dollar entry fee. That way they could have raised money to the cause.
Also, on another side note... the bands that played at this show got "gift baskets" yet the people whom they are trying to help get awareness? Hmm, seems rather ironic to me.
I'm all for the cause, but this avenue seems convoluted. Sorry to on teh parade. |

I think the views of the people that are playing for live 8 are stupid. I only listened to 5 minutes of it when u2 was playing and bono said "theres aids in africa and it is curable". Im sick of these musicians who think that just because they are rich and famous that they can speak out about they dont even understand.
Africa is a ed up country. That hippy concert years ago that was about the same as this did nothing, so expect live 8 to do nothing except to bring music to people. People dump millions and billions of money into Africa, a ed up country. There's little you can do as a person. It must start with the government.

| Its sad that concerts like this dont really help...It draws a huge croud for charity....but Ill bet that the vendors (food/beer/souviners) made more than anyone.:( |

The point of the concert was to get the G8 leaders to pay attention. Tony Blair seems to be on par with Bob Geldoff, now its time for the rest of the leaders to step up. |

That very genral statement. AFRICA. How about you. Whats the point? wtf is the point. Your right. It does start with the goverment, but at least these charity groups try. There intentions are positive. Bring awarness too and suppot a good cause. Dont on them for that. More power too them. I just hope that the money is being handled properly. |
