New Conjure One Album - Extraordinary Ways
zumby. Having built a strong worldwide fan base with his debut solo self titled album (released in 2003), Rhys Fulber (aka Conjure One) returns in August with a brand new album entitled 'Extraordinary Ways'. As with his debut, 'Extraordinary Ways' features vocal performances by several female singers while musically is a blend of lush textures, haunting melodies and electronic rhythms. However, whereas the first album drew its principal inspiration from Mediterranean and Middle Eastern musics. Fulber explains that "the songs are more about life and experiences this time, rather than visions and landscapes. 'Conjure One' was more of a Middle Eastern travelogue, while 'Extraordinary Ways' is more of an internal journey." For the first time in his career, the new album sees Fulber on vocal duties, delivering a unique modern take on the oft-neglected Buzzcocks classic 'I Believe'. Two singers from the first Conjure One album also return in the form of Poe ('Endless Dream', 'One Word' and 'Extraordinary Way') and Chemda Kalili ('Forever Lost'), while new vocalist collaborators are Tiff Lacey ('Face The Music') and Joanna Stevens ('Dying Light'). The London based composer Chris Elliott also returns to assist with string arrangements. As one half of Delerium, Rhys is no stranger to hit records, while as Conjure One he has already scored a no.1 UK Club Chart placing with a package that contained remix treatments of the songs 'Sleep' and 'Tears From The Moon' (both included on 'Conjure One'), while his official debut single missed the Top 40 by the narrowest of margins. 'Centre Of The Sun' (featuring Poe) also gained a Top 3 Club Chart placing. Details of The first single release from 'Extraordinary Ways' will be announced shortly. In addition to his solo work and long-established songwriting partnership with Bill Leeb in Delerium and Front Line Assembly, the multi-talented Fulber has also been a producer-in-demand for several years, with a list of credits ranging from metal outfits Fear Factory and Paradise Lost to AOR pop acts Sarah Brightman and Josh Groban. His musical roots can be traced back to his early childhood in Vancouver, Canada. "My dad was a musician, so we always had instruments around the house. When I was five or six, I started playing drums. By the age of 11, I was already hanging around studios, going to shows and buying Dead Kennedys records. I was a little kid hanging around these older punk rockers and music became really important to me. It suddenly became a lifestyle and a means to an end. Then I heard Pete ShelleyÂ’s solo album, Homosapien, and that changed the way I looked at music. I began to realise the electronic aspect was way cooler because you could do everything yourself. My father bought me a synthesizer and drum machine when I was about 14 and things took off from there. At 18, I was making records with the industrial band Front Line Assembly, as well as Delerium, and I began touring Europe and North America on a regular basis. Looking back, I think I always knew I'd be making music one day, I ju! st didn't know in what capacity. I never dreamed I'd wind up where I am now." But did he ever dream that he would one day cover a Pete Shelley song for one of his album…? 'Extraordinary Ways' is released on August 29th in the UK and has the following tracklisting: 01 Endless Dream 4.30 02 Face The Music 4.35 03 Pilgrimage 6.48 04 One Word 4.40 05 I Believe 6.07 06 Beyond Being 7.07 07 Extraordinary Way 4.40 08 Dying Light 6.45 09 Forever Lost 4.46 10 Into The Escape 4.15

I've also been looking forward to this album since january when rhys first mentioned it, it was meant for a spring release but got held up by nettwerk.

new Delerium album is now under way with Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb working together again, they started work on it back in may.

quote:

A departure from the more traditional verse/chorus like song arrangements of the last few Delerium albums, Poem and Chimera, Bill describes this new album as a return to songs that are more journey-like, in some cases more worldy and exotic and in other cases quite electronic. There will be a variety of vocalists featured on the album but in most cases they are singers that shine in non-traditional music.

this will be the 13th delerium album (not including the compliations) and i am so looking forward to that one too

There is talk of a new Front Line Assembly album from Leeb & Fulber in the offing, too. Have you heard anything about that?

I heard the tracks that were put up on myspace some days ago. I keep visiting the site on a daily basis. Great tunes. Finally it comes out on August 30th. Worth the wait.

I'm so excited. This is a good year full of good music. I hope they do another tour once they're done with the Delerium album. Everything is possible. Love these guys! :)
