Posted this on another forum the other day, forgot to post the whole thing here.

:whip:
Ok so there I was having my lunch today, a nice slice of pizza, when I noticed the sparrows bathing in the pond again. Now this is the pond where the baby fish came from. Its about four feet deep, but has pondweed covering about half the surface. The birds land on that and bath on it, as about an inch of water lies on top of it.
So anyway, the sparrows were happily bathing, when I saw some splashing from another part of the pond - the deep part. Going out to investigate, I found a baby bluetit drowning. These little buggers are smaller than the great that smashed into the window the other day.
This stupid little animal was more or less dead at this stage. It was flapping its wings in the water and stopping, exhausted. So I lifted this (freezing) bird out of the pond and held it for about ten minutes until it stopped shivering. Then I put it down on the side of a plant box to see what it did. Of course, I ran and got the camera.
In the end, he stayed there in the sun for a while and hopped into the trees, where he stayed for ages cleaning. Hopefully he'll start shouting soon and the mother will come.
So in I went to finish my pizza.
BUT THEN -
ANOTHER ing baby starts bathing in the pond. But as these things are so damn small (less than two inches from head to tail), he couldnt take off properly. He got a few inches into the air and crashed back into the pond :scrunch::mad:
Rescue #2. :whip:
Its known that blue instinctively have a bath after leaving the nest, and since they can have up to ten babies at a time, there may be more ing rescues to do soon. :mad:
Anyway ->

lmao... so you're pissed at them yet you continue to save them, meaning you'll have to probably save them again which leads to you getting more pissed :conf:

| Wouldnt it have been more fun to watch it sqirm in the pond. Then watch it take its last breath & die. |

Tis like this girl I knew who was the "save the whales", "save the rainforest", "save the moon from pollution" kind of person, sweet although I my propensity for eating meat did not go well with her vegan intent.
Well she was walking along and found a bird that had fallen out of a nest to the ground and it was a baby bird, I'm not even sure what you call a baby bird. Anyhow she becomes a rescuer and saves this poor little thing that was too young to fly and too inexperienced to eat.
Over the next 3 months she carries that ing bird everywhere she went. To restaurants, to the shops, to bed with her, her life was this baby bird, and it wasn't even a pretty bird, it was just kinda brown. She fed it special milk, made it wear warm little blankets, essentially this bird was given the highest life ever until her Dad lent back on his chair and squashed the bird to death with the leg of his chair.
I learnt a cheap lesson on not getting involved with natures cycles and processes.... |
