| omg, this has happened twice today, i'm just listening to a song, and out of no where at an insanely loud volume, my monitors just blast out static. its freaking the out of my cause i hope its not doing horrible damage to them. i'm running windows xp, any idea what the hell could be causing those static outbursts? |

well i know ive had the problem before...but it was my car stereo speakers...
first check your cabling...make sure everything is plugged in properly to your monitors
next id check your sound card...maybe clean out the dust bunnies that have been accumlating since the beginning of time...
the last thing i can think of is that you did blow your monitors...and you need to take them to get them fixed or get new ones...:whip: |

| well i just got my monitors a few weeks ago, and am still breaking them in, so hopefully i don't have to go through the hastle of shipping them back, they sound fine in terms of sound, so i think maybe i should double check the wiring. |

| hmmmm random noise sounds like an issue with your soundcard...or sources plugged into it. CD/DVD drives are notorious for random noises...so try and mute that, along with any other unnecessary devices wired into your card and see if that's an improvement. |

You're probably using a demo VSTi or a *cough*downloaded copy*cough* :)
I have the saxlab demo, and it does that often. |

It could be your media player. My WINAMP often does this to me too. Some times it just forgets how to read the stream or the audio file and emits white noise until I stop it and restart.
edit: correction...not WINAMP...it happened when I used Sonique. |
