i am also seeing him on friday and hopefully he = good. I really dont feel like going through all the trouble to see him (riding the bus to the other side of town and ) and him be unenthused to play. I am also going not just for the music, but to also see him because I was kicking myself for not seeing him at summerfest last year.

make sure to frequently visit the midwest forums and read up on the thread about this friday because we're trying to organize a TA meetup :)

Despite the negativity, I still wanna see him play before he quits.

it's funny... a few months ago i made a post wishing that oakenfold would do a late 90's throwback tour, playing all those tracks and everyone was like no that's a stupid idea! :p guess i sort of got my with the other day :)

Honestly if the retirement rumors are true you all must see him before the end of the year, last night was honestly was on par with almost any of those '99 essential mix world tour shows.

Believable cause when i saw him a yr ago, he surprised me as well.....
But his '99 form is unparalled

I'd love for him to stay around and bring back his solid trance gigs.

Ever since the Swordfish soundtrack and ugh....bunkka....I could not care less about his events.

But if there is some revitalizing attempt at his trance roots...bring it on Oakey...Ive still got respect for him.

i think oakey playing like he used to back in the EM world tour is my idea of trance eutopia. no music has ever rivaled the feeling of those sets.

ok i can back you up. i just saw oakenfold last night along with sharam (deep dish) and hernan cattaneo and although i noticed a trainwreck or two, he killed it.

i think right at the end of his set he played greece 2000 and then traffic, and unlike last year when he came to milwaukee, he played one encore tune.

i was too tired and out of it and just zoned into dancing with my gf to remember other tracks, but those two stuck out. woot.. great night :D

lol

this is the first i've heard that oakie is retiring, as such, it would be pretty cool to see him play before he quits.
how old is he?
