meh every state thinks they are the worst. although i have heard that the appalachian states are the worst.

for california, the worst region is probably indio/palmsprings. beats the out of me why they would want to tweak up in that hot ass desolate place, that would just make you even more uncomfortable.

Palmdale, CA? Crazy coincidence. Heh, that's where my cousin (mentioned on the first page somewhere..) lives. - he into it in a baaad way.

But yeah, Palmdale is trashy...

I'd agree to an extent, Georgia is likely not a hub for large meth activity... However, I do believe a lot of the Meth consumed PERIOD in the US is manufactured within 250 miles of where it's consumed...

Meth labs are about as common in the U.S. as women in windows are within a kilometer of Oude Kerk in Amsterdam...

Sorry for the random reference to the Netherlands... I miss that place so terribly it's not even funny, and I'm a little wasted/sentimental right now...

Edit: News stories on Kentucky seem to be pretty prevalent right now...

No California does suppy most of the country with it's meth.

Speier Bill Aims to Curb Meth Production
California Anti-methamphetamine help is on the way! Let's pass this bill and start cleaning up the mess Meth has caused!

The San Mateo County Times reports:

Legislation would restrict the sale of over-the-counter cold medicine

By Justin Jouvenal

State Sen. Jackie Speier, D-Hillsborough, has introduced legislation that would restrict the sale of some forms of over-the-counter cold medicine that can be turned into methamphetamine.

Senate Bill 152 would require medicines containing pseudoephedrine, a nasal decongestant, to be sold behind pharmacy counters by a licensed pharmacist or technician. The bill also requires purchasers to show a
valid California driver's license when purchasing the medicines.

"California is the nation's capital of meth manufacturing," Speier said. "This bill will have a dramatic effect on the methampethamine that is manufactured and distributed using over-the-counter drugs."

Speier said small meth labs relying on pseudoephedrine are replacing "superlabs" in some parts of California. Currently, California produces 85
percent of the nation's methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Speier said the bill would leave a "mile-wide" trail for law enforcement officials to follow to find out who is using pseudoephedrine to cook up methamphetamine.

Speier based her bill on similar legislation in Oklahoma, which she said led to an 80 percent reduction in methamphetamine seizures in that state.

Speier believes
a similar reduction in methamphetamine seizures is possible here in California. The state spent $2.9 mil-lion last year cleaning up nearly 1,200 meth labs around the state.

Speier's bill would also do the following:

-It would require pseudoephedrine products to be kept in a locked area.

-Allow buyers to purchase no more than nine grams of pseudoephedrine over 30 days.

SB 152 would not apply to
liquid, liquid-capsule or gel-capsule forms of pseudoephedrine, as long as there is another active ingredient in the medicine.

The bill would not apply to prescription medicine.

Nice... but I still think that number is an exaggeration...

I wish I could find a GOOD comparitive study on this, perhaps even something with just a few States compared... It's not that I don't trust the San Mateo times, but I genuinely don't believe anything the print/televised media or government tells me RE: Statistics...

I'm from California and, I do believe that "California produces 85
percent of the nation's methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Department of Justice." meth is everywhere here.

Right dude, point of the thread... Meth is everywhere here, everywhere there, and everywhere in general...

I'm not arguing whether or not California produces the most Meth dude, I'm just saying, 85% seems like a god awful high amount, as I can almost guarantee that little to none of Cali's makes it here... People pride themselves on the homebrew meth they make around here...

I'm not meaning to sound rude, but man, I've just spent 5 years of my life following trends of drug use and production, and in that time one thing I've learned; Newspaper article and News websites are good for summaries, but rarely spell things out in black and white facts...
LinX
yeah i heard cali has a big problem mostly bc they have the room (land rather) to hide meth labs...

here in nyc its not bad i know a few people who tweek every now and then but i really havent seen any around for a while... which is good bc i hate tweekers too lol
Tranceplant
85 percent is a huge number but you go to remember out here in California their is alot space to have labs in the middle of nowhere, and not mention all the gangs that produce quick and very cheap meth. Their is constanly busts in areas were you would least expect to find a meth lab like in mansions.

Meth is a major problem where I live, even though it's a college town, a lot of the surrounding area is pretty poor... How is it for the rest of you guys?

you probably missed my thread:Is this Crystal Meth?

:/

I think every state/city/county/country is "the worst." The news and newspapers around here say that Oregon is the worst and Coos Bay (some trashy little town on the ocean) has the highest usage rate in the country. I think it's a huge problem everywhere and it's probably impossible to say where it's the absolute worst.

I think that's probably the best explanation...

I guess having your area be the "worst" is maybe good motivation to get to get public policy changed and allow for easier (albeit questionable constitutionally) raids on meth labs...

It's crazy how many states have exceptionally specific meth laws/policis/procedures on the books... I think it's miles beyond any other drug right now just due to it's prevalence in society...
