How do you compress?

Hi! i would like to know how you all outhere compress your songs?

for ex: compress bassdrum with bassline, lead with drums etc, etc?

And how do you do your final compress (values & yor best plugin) ?

I use fruity for compression heres a good list of start values to begin with when compressing each sound idividually.U can of course change them but this should get u started

Sound Attack Release Ratio Hard/Soft Gain reduction
Vocal fast 0.5 sec 2:1 - 8:1 soft -3-8 db
Loud vocal fast 0.3 sec 4:1 - 10:1 hard - 5-15 db
Acoustic Git'r 5-10 ms 0.5 sec 5:1 - 10:1 soft/hard 5-15 db
Lecky Guitar 2-5 ms 0.5 sec 8:1 - 10:1 hard 5-15 db
Kik & Snare 1-3 ms 0.2 sec 5:1 - 10:1 hard 5-15 db
Bass 1-10 ms 0.5 sec 4:1 - 12:1 hard 5-15 db
Mix fast 0.4 sec 2:1 - 6:1 soft 2-10 db
General fast 0.5 sec 5:1 soft 2-10 db

I believe that on the master you should have ratio not bigger than 2:1 I may be wrong though but I believe that 6:1 is a bit drastic...

Yeah maybe your right that was ruffly thrown together but its just a place to start thats what i do i start there and work the knobs from that position i usually end up at 2 anyway on most tracks tho those presets are what i mainly use for rock tracks.
