Hey all, I just got a new job in Sacramento. Cali, here I come!

I am looking to rent a place out there and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on where I should be living. I visited there 2 weeks ago did not have much time to find any hot spots.

I would either like to live somehwhere with a great social scene, or a suburb between Sac town and SanFran with cheaper rent.

What do you NorCal peeps think?
ninetyninej
Roseville or Antelope.

I live in Antelope and I love it. Its only 15mins to downtown Sac but I'm not sure where exactly you will be working. If you do work downtown, one alternative is the newer parts of Natomas which is 5 mins from downtown Sac.
PhaseFour
agreed on new parts of natomas.

theres also some development when i live in the greenhaven area. might be out of your price range but its around 10-15 from downtown. west sac might be cheap albeit ghetto...

sacramento has a social scene? news to me :p

as for suburbs on the way to frisco, well...you could try davis (town that houses the university of california @ davis, about 20 minutes west of Sac)...pretty social from late september thru june w/ all the college kids but pretty ghost townish during the summer...rent isnt horribly expensive there if u live on the outskirts and the commute isnt that bad

not much of a scene in sac anymore...still a tad bit of underground around, but all has died in the last 5 years.....

as for somewhere nice to live-rosevile,folsom,rocklin, and el dorado hills all are nice places to live(but they are the most expensive as well).....nicest place on a budget would be roseville...good luck! : )

agreed...the scene in sac died in 2002.

The clubs consist now of hip hop, alcoholics, and fights. There are a couple clubs that play EDM but its mostly mainstream house mixed in with top40 (yuck, same as playing a newer MoS cd). I won't club in Sac anymore..I go to SF mainly, and SoCal if there is a major event.

ugh....it looks like I won't get to party much.

I was thinking about leasing a place in Fairfield or Vacaville. Rest is decent and at least I'll be closer to SF.

Anyone think this is a bad idea?

Vacaville is like 45-50 minutes to clubs in SF. That's not too bad. You can live in the city, don't have a car, have to take the buses and , and take that long to get to al cub between the waiting for the bus/train, taking the bus/train, then walking to the club.

I love Vacaville. A somewhat popular suberb, with the none-too-populated feel while close to the major city. Note, it gets ing HOT there. Then again, it gets ING HOT everytwhere outside the city or Pacifica.

if you REALLY want to live cheap, check out woodland. sure its boring, but they have excellent mexican food :) popular among UCD students who want to live cheap and like yolobus lol

I'm so excited to be out on the west for this LP party in SF, and PvD night.

I'm working as a Plant Engineer for Granite Construction in Rancho Cordova.

Back to apartment hunting...
