Its not saddening to see Big Brother 6.
The truely sad part is that someone...a HUMAN BEING....is funding shows like this...somewhere.
LOL what are your takes on this reality ?

Listen, it's really simple, reality TV is bad Television. If I wanted to watch a bunch of drama queens / kings whine their way through something that in no way resembles real life I would put the SETA forum on camera. At least then I might care a little abolut the people involved. The same goes for those shows following some celebrity or another as they stumble into "hillarious" hijinx's and "real" situations.
People, celebrities are generally stupid,...........
VERY stupid.
If you watched Newlyweds for any other reason than the hotness factor of the two of them you deserve to lose the brain cells that show stole from you.
In summation, reality TV is one of the dumbest forms of TV ever invented and the various network exec's should be ashamed for the overall lowering of the American IQ |

Is reality tv as popular in Europe as it is here?
I seriously doubt Amecians, more the most part, are not as infatuated with ing useless drama as the media makes it out to be. |

i can only speak for sweden, but yes, at least here. the airwaves are filled with home-improvement, beauty-remakes and big brother-like programs.
and "talent"-shows for 15 minute celebrities. |

| I like "The Real World" on MTV but beyond that and the first couple episodes of American Idol, where countless people embarass themselves on national television, i think it's all utterly retarded... |

Most are blatantly idiotic, like that show "Beauty And The Geek". I don't even know the point of the show, all I know is that they get hardcore inhaler-inhaling, suspender-wearing, cord-on-eyeglasses DnD computer nerds and pair them up with supermodels. And then they do things like go swimming, which the nerds don't know how to do, or go to a library, which completely confuses the supermodels. I mean completely confuses. One of the smarter supermodels tried to read the nutritional information on the back of a Snickers candy bar wrapper she found on the ground, but her nerd kept having to remind her to breathe every time she completed a word. Another of the supermodels was trying to read a doorknob because a nerd said people who don't read are dolts. She thought "dolt" meant "bolt" and of course doorknobs are locked with...now i'm confused. But yeah, nerds are smart and supermodels are not.
Or they go camping, a situation in which none of them know what they're doing. In that episode the most outrageous thing was a nerd who had an asthma attack after tripping on a rock in the forest trail and cracking his skull open on another rock. I don't know if he survived because that's when I changed the channel. Anyway, usually nothing happens in the end. Unless you consider anticlimactic showings of how inept geeks are around women and with other things normal people are good at. Didn't we all figure that much out from Poindexter 20 years ago? They had their revenge, now leave them alone. It's pretty painful to watch.
Some I find interesting, like COPS, Dog The Bounty Hunter, Fear Factor, and Contender. The first two I find insightful into and somewhat informative about real life people doing their jobs as law enforcement. Okay, I just like seing people get tazed and watching Dog walk down gangland like he owns the place. The last two I admit are, in the end, as useless as any other reality TV show, especially Fear Factor. But I find it exceedingly funny to watch other people torture themselves for money, and Contender...well...each episode was like a mini-Rocky. Underdog defeats hero is a thing I like to see. Plus Jesse was hot.
Hmm...could have made paragraph 1 funnier...paragraph 2 is my fav...and the last paragraph is decently recycled material. Overall I give me one and a half thumbs up. Thanks me, i'm too kind. |
