1) Paintball would be an awesome olympic sport.

2) The Grand Theft Auto contest. (who can steal 20 cars in the shortest amount of time without getting caught by the cops. A 'splatter bonus' is issued for knocking over pedestrians)

3) The Beer Drinking contest. There will be different beer races such as
- the sprint (to find out who really can chug down 10 beers the fastest)
- the long distance triathlon (first to drink 30 different viarities of beer)

4) The battle for middle Earth. (200 people are in a circle with tasar guns. they are surrounding the gold medal in the middle. Whoever picks up the medal is teh winner!)

5) Mario Cart.

6) Burnout Car Contest.

MARIO CART!!!!!! Now thats a challenge...brilliant

what the do american roots have to do with olympic sports? the same question about the big show? moreover, none of the american baseball players would qualify, cause they need at least 20 more years for their bodies to cover up the traces of all the steroids they use now:)

Rugby is a class sport and its about time the world started watching. also has anyone else noticed that squash isnt in the olympics?! its in the commonwealth games. that should be in there i reckon :)

first of all, baseball a/k/a the big show is entrenched in american history/culture a/k/a americas pasttime.
baseball is played worldwide believe it or not.
as far as the steroids, im down for having olymics stricter rules.
i agree ball players get away with too much now.

I love baseball, it actually requires some thinking to it, instead of run and gun games like soccer (not that I don't like soccer, I played it for 8 years when I was a kid :p) and basketball, but you have to understand, soccer is the girls/little kids sport in the US.

Also look at central and south America, they have a huge number of small leauges, and a majority of US players come from those countries. Don't pin baseball down as being something thats only big in the US.

Japan also has a huge baseball system, they love it! It's popularity is even above their national sport of Sumo.

Nothing beats going out to the ballpark on a beautiful afternoon and watching a relaxing game of baseball, and believe me it can get pretty ing intense to.

Soccer and those other run and gun sports are for people with short attention spans, they are like 80's action movies, no real plot, just alot of explosions and such.

Baseball is like the good thriller, you don't know what could happen, and the tension just builds and builds and builds.

I don't really care that it's out of the Olympics, just like basketball its dominated by US teams, so it's not much competition to begin with, though it is fun to see Japan vs. US as they actually have skilled and trained players.

Soccer should also get the boot though really, you already have a huge series of world tournaments and other things that play more into the game then Olympics.

But really I don't think any of you English should criticize baseball when you have never followed a team, never probably seen a full game, and probably don't even know the basic rules. ;)

Trying to prove a point by bashing football(soccer) will not get you anywhere.

Soccer are for those with short attention spans? Do you say that because of experience?

I do agree with you about what you said about basketball. The US keeps dominating in that sport, even in the last Olympics. One of the reasons for such domination is the love for the game that all the athletes have. The best players never fail to go to the Olympics. The Olympics is a priority for them.

Football, or soccer for some, owns all other sports, worldwide.

America dominates in Basketball. Argentina and Italy are better than they are. Serbia is about tied now (though we used to be world champs, we sucked majorly this year) and even Lithuania are looking as good if not better than they are.
enferno
i say that they should make break dancing an olympic sport.

its no surprise. everyone knows you can't play baseball without taking steriods. so why would you want to be forced to take random drug test?
DjConfessions
i really want mixed martial arts fighting in there

playing for five seconds then chilling for 40... thriller indeed:D:stongue: . i agree it may have a great sociological aspect of meeting your friends, etc, but it has nothing to do with what a "sports" is.
