:haha: @ the 'interpretive dancing'

Ended up showing up much later than I wanted to and completely missed Hernan's set. . I liked Sharam's set, like jonze said it was kind of a re-shuffled EM but Flashing For Money was dope. Oakey was about what I expected - good choons and spotty mixing. It's a pain in the ass trying to motivate people to go to something like this when it really isn't their scene. Then I think I went to bed around 6 or something. What day is it?

Edit - I hate Traffic. ing get over it already Oakey you've been hammering that ing debacle for over a year.

yeah.. i find that tune pretty annoying but i personally was way too into the whole night to care. i think the 30 minute walk back to the hilton's parking garage and coming down off of an adrenaline high, combined with losing my hat sort of ruined that part of the night but overall... woot
UWM
I still think it's weird that somebody snatched your hat but left your camera.

yeah, the dancers on stage were terrible...were those the best dancers milwaukee has to offer? :nervous: heads should roll for that atrocity
Omega_Blue
sounded like a good time.. my friends backed out on me at the last minute :(

tracklists anyone?

When he dropped Arcadia and Greece 2000 I was going crazy... I liked Sharam the best though... he was like 2 ft in front of me at one point, but I didn't notice until after he had walked by... OH THAT WAS SHARAM :(

when we walked into the main room, Rob (RJT) and myself just looked at each other and smiled a big ing grin and i immediately knew it was gonna be a good night... i was in a different world, and it definitely was not Milwaukee!!

Arcadia, Flashing for Money, Who's Knocking (even though Oakey mixed out of it before the orgasmic vocals came in, grrr), Sweet Sorrow (??), My Blue Heart, Say Hello, Traffic (even tho i don't really care for that song it sounded soooo good, and with the crowd energy)... omg those songs owned me last night!

Sharam was the best, imo. he just played exactly the kind of stuff i've been digging lately, and his mixing was pretty good, he kept the crowd energy up and strong. Oakey's first 2 songs kind of threw me off, the transition was really bad but once he got into his set i was really loving it. i can't say his mixing was good but i did enjoy the track selection. Hernan surprised me, we got there for the last 30 min of his set and he was playing stuff i wasn't expecting to hear. i typically think of Hernan as somewhat slower and proggy, but he was throwing down some really danceable tunes.

the night exceeded my expectations on soooo many levels. Rob and Tony - you guys made my ing night. i wouldn't have wanted to spend that night with anyone else. leaning against the carpeted wall way in the back, shoulder to shoulder with Rob, bobbing our heads, watching Tony dance... its great to have awesome people to go out with who all enjoy the music tremendously.

wow, long post for the level of crackiness i'm on. went to bed at 11am and got up at 3:30pm. i do have to say that last night may have spawned the best idea evar...

Gabriel & Dresden, Blank & Jones, move over...

Turner & Romano is the next big duo!! :D :D :D

but first... Max Graham ;)

Sweet, from the sound of things I can't wait to see Cattaneo and Oakenfold in Indianapolis monday! :)

OK, so quick thoughts before I pass out for the evening...

Hernan: Only heard last 45 minutes, but his mixing was rock solid during that time, so if he wrecked at all, I didn't hear it. I really liked that he was playing some pretty dancable tunes... I definitely really enjoyed the end of his set.

Sharam: Definitely the set of the night. Anyone who says he had some issues/poor mixes didn't hear the same set I heard. I loved it, and IMHO who cares if it's like his EM...? He played what I wanted to hear, hands down. I danced far more to Sharam than to Oakenfold... Sharam kicked ass... I'd go see him again in a second...

Oakenfold: Here's where things get muddy. I loved his tracklist, played a lot of stuff I wanted to hear. He trainwrecked, and not just once, or twice, but a lot. Oakenfolds mixing was poor, especially in comparison to the two who opened for him. Any of you kids out there who say "Oakenfold was spot on!" are out of your ing skulls... Basically, it was great music, mixed poorly...

Highlights of the night for me:

Flashin' for Money
Say Hello
My Blue Heart (This track is killing me right now... long story, but the title is incredibly apt for the moment.)
Sweet Sorrow
Arcadia

All in all, The Rave blew me away. It's the best I've seen that place set up and sound ever, which I guess isn't saying much, but it was really inspiring to see a crowd going that nuts in Milwaukee... The crowd was bananas...

And I can't really rate the night without thanking the company I kept. You know who you are, and how important this night was to me, Thank You ;)

Finally time for some legit sleep...

Rob
