| i would never bring my to a dorm. Not only is space a factor, it can get stolen no matter how religous u are about locking your door. |

| Yea, but what about all the rest of the guys that live up and down the hall and in the building. Do what you wanna do, its ur equipment. From my experience in college, 90% of all students are pretty broke. If you can, at least get some kind of insurance. |

| true. That's one thing i need to get straight before i bring any stuff. Also, i think i'll put my gold 1200 in storage along with other stuff until i can get my own place after teh 1st year. |

Speaking about dorm setups, I just finished my first year in college with my setup in my room. I would agree 100% with whoever posted to ask your roommate first, because like most of you...I had no idea what freak I'd end up with :p . Turns out my roommate was a Jazz Pianist (Best one on campus I might add) and he was cool with my equipment, I even told him he could use it to play his jazz records! :D The next problem was the size of my setup....
Full size 19inch mixer + 2 tt's odessy dj coffin
2 keyboard stands
2 x techs sl-1200 mk2's
Behringer djx-700 (total crap  )
The solution ended up rearranging all the furniture in the dorm room so that there was a large space on one of the walls. Worked out ok, there was still plenty of room in my closet and etc. Suprisingly it turns out there were about 3 other djs on my floor as well (mostly hiphop and funk) and on thursday nights...our dorm was pretty much the party dorm, so the noise that I made probably was not even heard :) . Anyways, I'm not too sure about next year...looks like I will be in a much more quiet dorm :tongue2 |

| You should be careful about what equipment you take to your dorm. When I lived in dorms I had my PS2, and my guitar and amp stolen. |

Yea, one thing is for sure, my room was always locked..probably the only one on the floor that was like that. Turns out one of the guys down the hall would steal laptops from open rooms :nervous: . |

One thing too, if you play somewhere don't let too many people know the stuff your using is yours. One of the those people could target your room. Its better if they think you rented it.
With how much equipment you got if you know someone who can work well with wood build you something that will work. I only have two turntables and a mixer and I have no desk, actually my roomate doesn't have a desk either just a little spot between the speaker and the wall. :D |

I always tried to lock my place as much as possible. The thing about it is that I had a roomate in my room who could also forget to lock the door. Moreover, there was one bathroom for every two rooms so if the guys on the other side of the bathroom left their unlocked it would be very easy to access my room.
I can take care of my myself, but under the situation I was placed in four people could up and leave the door unlocked so it was very easy for valuables to end up missing. |

My residence is apartment style, so i have my own room with the new Keycard locking system. The door is always automatically locked when you shut it. As far as roomies are concerned since i'm in second year, we get to choose our own roomates.
Lastly the reason i'm not moving into an Aparment off campus is because i am part of the college council for my residence, so i gotta stay there. Besides they are providing us with black leather sofas in the living room and Sony wegas and free cable and free high speed internet! :) :D :D
P.S did i mention free foozball, Pool table, ping pong etc as well ;) |
