Is the L.A. police out of control?
| quote: | | The child's mother, Lorena Lopez, said she pleaded with officers to hold their fire.He had problems with depression, his business was not doing well," Lopez told KNBC-TV. "I told them that he needed help, he needs a psychologist, but please don't shoot. They didn't understand, and the police fired, like, 300 shots." |

surprisingly, the mother didn't plead with her husband to release their daughter:rolleyes:
i don't think it's out of control here, the man should see a psychiatrist BEFORE he decides to take the gun and his daughter as a shield and go into the streets, not after. the death of a child is of course a big tragedy, but officers are not the ones to blame. after all, they had a three-hour standoff. |

That's an obvious exaggeration. If twenty cops were present with 9MM pistols, they could only fire 180 shots before having to stop to reload. And twenty cops for something like this is a LOT.
And this was the gunman's fault... not the kid's. |

| Definitely the father's fault. He was intoxicated and on drugs and shooting at the S.W.A.T. team trying to help an unarmed civilian out of the area. It's a shame the daughter died, but in this instance the police acted correctly and accordingly. |

| I dont think the police did anything "out of control" here. There was a dude ed up on drugs and alcohol with a firearm and a baby in his hands...who wouldnt expect something terrible to happen? |
