Mixmags top 100 dj poll???
View this Thread in Original format

who thinks this poll should be left to a panel of reputable experts opposed to being open to the public? i'm sorry, but somethings the public shouldn't be aloud to vote on. in a real poll tiesto wouldn't be the #1 dj. just my opinion, so voice yours!

In my oppinion; neither. Ask top DJ's to name an artist they think is the greatest (aside from themselves) and base it on which DJ's were chosen the most (from 1-100). Experts and fans aside, the masters of the craft know best.
djbruuen
i could see some bias in that though. i think a proper criteria that experts use to properly evaluate all eligable djs would be the best solution for a more accurate result.

Its just a vote for the most popularist dj, and with tiesto playing the olimpics hes bound to be number 1. I think they shouldnt even bother with it!!!!
isoterra
kept how it is, since it's never claimed to be anything more than a popularity vote.
UnBracKo
everybody should know dj mag list doesn't show the quality of the dj's, dj mag is just a list of the most popular dj's!

so the vote system should still being the same as now,

Well, the public to be a good Dj you gotta be a crowd pleaser so i guess it makes sense
shades_of_gray
the mixmags top 100 will be even worse than the dj magazine poll,

It should be an objective contest, with entries like:

  1. Introduction of new scratching techniques
  2. Difference in BPM from the slowest to the fastest tune of most sets (the broader, the better)
  3. Introduction of new mixing techniques
  4. Range of macro-ranges playes (really, playing "uplifting trance" and "progressive trance" is nothing more than what a trance DJ should play - but playing house, trance, drum'n'bass, jazz and country music with competence is something that should be praised).
  5. Number of tunes played every 60 min (the more, the better... spending 6 minutes playing the same tune should be considered a joke)
  6. Number of tunes played throughout the year.

That would make things a tad bit more challenging, for example.
