Hello TAs,

This is the second track that I've posted on the promotion forums. It's been several months since my last one, since I've never actually gotten around to finishing any of the loops that I've made.. hehe. :p So here it is:

Last update: 07/15/05
Sharvax - Sonority (Original Mix)
Genre: Trance
BPM: 136
Length: 9:38
Bitrate: 128kbps

This was made in Reason 3, including mastering, which I'll probably redo in Sound Forge at some point. It's longer than I expected it to be, but I think it sounds okay I guess.. :S

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :D Enjoy!

Cheers,
sharvax

Comments as I listen...

right off the beginning it sounds kinda boring.. try adding more percs..

the kick sounds like it may be slightly distorted..

that line that comes in now.. sounds like the supersaw from your JP.. after owning a JP, i can safely say DON'T use if for basslines... it's GREAT for sub bass.. but not bass lines..

niec fill at 1:23

could use a more detailed hi hat line.. sounds rather empty...

kick is a bit too bright..

sounds empty at 4:47 when everything comes back in after the break...

melody is ok... it's in tune at least ;)

try working on your composition skills.. the melody is very generic

You know what i think about it mate :)

Really not bad :), just fix the lead synth and i do like the melody :)

Well beginnings of tracks aren't supposed to be so busy since they're being mixed in with what's playing last... it's up to the producer... I think it's fine.

Thanks for the comments guys! Really appreciate it. :D I'm working on adding more percs as it does indeed sound pretty empty. Anything else?
Vizay
the generic feeling I get from the track is that it feels like a breakdown and builduptrack but without a climax, wich is kind of bad in this case because I get frustrated that you don't let the track out to it's fullest :p

although it's a matter of taste but I think you can let the track go much wilder than it is right now :)

someone earlier made a comment about the melody and it not being complex enough, imo don't change it. It's simple sound is it's strength :)

First, you might want to consider EQing that kick a little more.

Bassline sounds good, nice FX so far.

Dives right in at 1:25ish. So far so good, though that kick is distracting.

Melody is decent, makes me think of waves for some reason.

Choir Pad at 3:00 doesn't seem to match the track.

Breakbeat. :-) +1

Might want to diversify around 5:30ish - 7:00

Now I do like the way it winds down slowly with the bassline driving the track along.

So, the song is decent, but I would strongly suggest taking a look at that kick. Consider EQing down 1k - 3k and playing with slight boosts and cuts around 90, 125, 250, and 500.
Maybe a better compression module would be in order. Give it a try and see if it helps.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks for your input, Vizay and Shibby. :D

I've updated the track a little- played with the kick some, added some more percs and atmospheric sound effects, and made some mixing/mastering adjustments. The link is in the first post, how does it sound now? :)

Like this very much! It never gets boring! Really good all the way!! For me the percs is fine! Don't miss anything in this tune. Love it!

Keep it up!
