there are two refineries in the entire state - the one in elizabeth and i think there might be one in south jersey too.

what's funny is that i live within 10 miles of like 4 refineries but nobody ever makes that any kind of generalization about the bay area for its refineries.

also, it costs less in new jersey because they resisted increasing the taxes for a long time (i heard they are raising them now though :() it doesnt have anything to do with not having to pump your own gas. i can't tell you how much i miss not having to pump my own gas...

I heard state and fed govt is spending millions this year to get rid of the smell around exit 13 on the Turnpike...

There are 2 refineries, and sewage treatment plants in that area.

there's nothing stupid about it... and it's certainly not an inconvenience- it's definitely more a convenience than anything else!! it gives me time to make a call, get my deposit slip ready if i'm going to the bank to make a deposit, check my makeup if i'm going out... i love having other pump my gas for me for a cheaper price than ny! :D

I love it in the summer... i keep the AC on running off the car battery while I wait... :tongue2

I'll have to dissagree - ever wait in those 50 car long lines on the turnike b/c there are like 2 dudes working 30 pumps... and, I can, through some feat of magic, manage to talk on the phone while pumping gas :eyes:. The fact that NY is so expensive is that it's... well... NY, and like everything else, they tax the outta it. My opinion, repeal the ban:whip:

So you enjoy pumping your own gas in the middle of the winter knee deep in the snow.....NJ might be ass backwards on a lot of things but pumping your own gas must stay and NO you don't have to tip them.

on my way back from my last nyc trip i filled up in jersey for $2.24/gal. the whole ride home i looked for cheaper gas and it was nowhere to be found. i can't complain and no i didn't tip this time but i did last time.
