Im kinda getting pissed off from raves cause its becoming this huge TREND! i dont like all the posers that are there for all the wrong reasons. Who think that they have to go to find a lover or some drugs.. who give the scene a bad reputation.. and here its becoming like "the thing to do" and it s:ucks! And now its becoming more people who doing it just for drugs, and next day they telling like: omg i`m a raver, i was at rave and ate some "e"..
I understand that big Raves is a part of the entertaiment industry and you cant shut your doors for "non-true ravers"" if you wanna keep alive RAVE CULTURE. And you must set your own rules and let them play with you... dress codes... non-popular location for parties etc.... and real RaveLovers will be with you...
however is this a problem for ur country??
..ok hope u all understand what i talking about, waiting for opinions.
plur

I think that this topic could be the saving grace of Minnesota. Here there are hardly any good parties to speak of and it is even less likey to find a big time DJ spinning close by. I guess the only good thing about this place (as far as music goes) is that everyone is stuck in the trendy "pop, rap, r&b, and whatever else is on MTV" phase. When any DJ spins here, the only people who show upare the people who really know whats going on. Of course, there are drugs there and all, but not a bunch of people acting like its just another club night. People are there to hear a certain style and to hear the music. Its great to feel the energy at the rare parties I find in my area.

Although I wouldnt mind living in Europe where I could see great DJs all the time, its not so bad to have GREAT parties once-in-a-while...... maybe when im 25 or so ill move outta this place. :)

yeah i think b.s.e. did start something simalar to this thread earlier but o well. anyway heres my two cents. i think that the whole enrire rave scene has been blown out of proportion by the media. yes you do get the e-tards and the like but you can still have a good time. i guess you have to watch out when going to the mainstream parties cause there is a greater chance that you will be surrounded by all the people that you cant stand an are there for the wrong reasons. but thats just like going to clubs. youre always gonna have to deal with the fake ass people and the junkies but if you just want to go for the music then dont even stress them.

raves do already have a bad rep. in a lot of cases. I had one classmate of mine who asked me "so, you go to raves. then you must be a druggie or a candy kid or you take ecstasy". i explained that i didn't go to raves, i went clubbing and that was different compared to a rave [i always felt that raves were quite disorganized and too rowdy for proper dancing to the music] he was all "eh..no it's not, admit it, you're a druggie. candy kid!". i got so pissed, i wanted to hit him with my bag. people who know nothing about what they're saying should just keep their mouths shut

Ohhhh PLEEEEASE raves have been trendy for a few years now..getting trendy? pppssshh they've been trendy..
Although it is a rare occurance to find someone their who actually knows anything about and likes the music. It does happen occasionaly.

I'm no big expert on raves - I haven't done or read any studies or statistics on them. But as far as I can remember, ecstacy has always been a part of rave culture. Every rave I can remember going to, the majority of people are peakin. And quite frankly it doesn't bother me. Most of the people I see on e's are enjoying the music, dancing around hugging people, I just stick with my friends and enjoy the music - which no-one prevents me from doing. At least the ppl that choose to drop e's at raves don't go around showing off and picking fights with everyone, unlike a lot of the pub scene.
Sure occasionally raves get misrepresented in the press, but thats nothing new. When Rock'n Roll first appeared people thought it was the 'devil's music'. Hippies, beatniks and pretty much every youth-related sub-culture has received the same ty treatment in its time.
