Bad News About Bob Moog

Hey. I unfortunately read some bad news about Bob Moog. He evidently has a severe brain tumor forcing him to become bed ridden. For those who dont know, Bob Moog is the founder of the company Moog which is majorly responsible for starting EDM for us. Synths like the minimoog and others are known for thier unique and amazing resonant filters and bass that is still muchly untouched. Wish him the best :(.

Hey. I read it on Boing Boing which took me to some blog of either his or his families maybe at a hospital? Pretty sure its accurate information since its all over though.

Cheers,

Wow, he looks so old from all that treatment. I feel so bad, you know...he's THE man. I thought I was going to read about his death...I am glad he is still alive and I will be praying that he pulls through.

Sad to hear, although I'm not all that familiar with Bob Moog and his company, I wouldn't wish that suffering on anyone. :(

he has done so insanely much for this scene as a whole. without him, the scene would have a different look, a different sound. it just wouldn't be what it is today. i wish him and his family the best. he will always be a legend in my books.

I second that...LEGEND

That's terrible news. Bob is, in my mind, one of the most (if not THE single most) important contributors to electronic music, not to mention a great person. I sincerely hope that he responds well to treatment.

a little update

it seems like his state is getting even worse now and they don't expect him to have much time left :(

I really hope his last time in life will be as painless as possible...

I agree. He is definately one of the most amazing people alive. This is very sad to hear... If he gets through this, try to see him if he visits your area. He is very nice and humble too. Here's some things he said that were very encouraging to me:

He was inspired by a musician to invent his instruments. He was listening to a performer use electronics in music which game him some ideas and desire to make synths. He also said that the future of music will not be in making new kinds of sounds, but in new ways of controlling them. And he also talked about “Switched On Bach and how so many of those albums were sold. He said that someone asked him, "How do you know this electronic stuff is real music?" And he replied, "Well real music makes real money." This was the first album that told the world that electronic music sells and that there was hope for support in its' developement. He said he was still building analog synths and theramins at his place too and they are still being sold.
