Maybe it's because it's too ravey, too underground.

it's because most techno "purists" don't consider acid techno as techno. They do have good reason though. Acid techno is written/produced more like trance, due to the 303 melodies.

But on the same note, I'll DEFINATELY be there.

well if this is the case.. then i think we need someone to get on this and find a club that is open to techno nights and start promoting it more! There are techco freaks out there.. you just gotta get better lineups for them to come out.
I guarantee these clubs would make money if they had a regular techno night with good djs. :)

I could'nt agree with you more. Don't get me wrong, i love Toronto techno DJs like Deko-Ze, Jelo, Greg Gow, and the like. But Toronto has some AMAZING hard/acid techno talent that is more like D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Chris Liberator, Eric Sneo & the likes. It's a shame, cuz it's good fun music that's amazing for dancefloors.

It's unfortunate that hard and acid is'nt given much of a chance outisde of the "rave" scene. Fixxated friday's jungle night @ Money had a back room with it , but that lasted only two week. Perhaps if Toronto club owners and partiers would be willing to give something other the progressive house/breaks/trance a try, we'd see more of it.

[/end rant]

it's funny, i don't like most techno too much, nor do i like trance, but i still LOVE acid techno. it just sounds so wonderfully dirty.

I will have to go to this....I haven't gone to a techno night in ages. I love system.....too bad I only get there maybe once every few months.
