Harry Potter delivery ruined by crazy postman

I always thought that it was an old wive's tale about postmen being afraid of dogs...
I had the worst experience ever today with my dog Chloe. Chloe is a super friendly 8 year old golden lab (there's a picture of her on the cherry beach thread).
The canada post man came to my door at noon today to deliver my Harry Potter book. Chloe always comes to the door to greet guests and barks a few times, but is totally non-aggressive. There are lots of you who have met her and can vouch for that. She is big and strong, though...
Anyway, the postman takes one look at Chloe (who's a big girl and is wagging her tail), and drops my package, and RUNS AWAY, waving his arms in the air and screaming at the top of his lungs. Anyone who knows anything about dogs knows where this is going.... she runs after him! Not to be aggressive, but she thinks he's playing because he's making a lot of noise and waving his arms like he's going to throw something (Chloe pushed past me to chase him, but what dog wouldn't?).
I call her back and she goes inside, and the guy tells me he's been chased 4 times this week, by a pit bull, a german shepherd, a Chihuahua and now my golden lab. I told him that any dog would chase him if he does exactly what he's doing, and that he needed to learn that you don't make eye contact with a strange dog, and to NOT RUN, or to yell! He's going to end up being bitten! I'm going to mention it to my post office next week, because it means this guy's in the wrong job, or he's looking for a lawsuit to retire.
I wasn't once worried that Chloe would bite him (she had her head down and was wagging her tail the whole time), but it really upset me! I was so looking forward to reading my Harry Potter book and couldn't even open it for 5 hours.
Can you believe that this guy is a postman? And if Chloe had bit him, I would have been up for a lawsuit for sure! Do you think this guy's looking for a desk job, or what?

my sis got it last night and she's only on page 100 something. i'm tempted to take it since she's out :D |

The book is in good shape. I'm about 130 pages into it. I was so distraught it took me 5 hours to pick it up... Gawd, these books are really great! Rowling really knows how to whump you over the head right off the bat, and rope you into these books!
