Ok I really want to create my own tunes now. I've been wanting to for a long time and just never got round to it. Now Ive brought a copy of Fruityloops 3 so I can start sequencing. Ive downloaded various free/demo synthsizers from the web but all I can seem to get out of them is a horrible sounding high picthed note or a low note or some stupid warpy sound. I havn't got a clue what half the buttons actually do like LFO, envolope and what difference the various waveforms on the oscillators is. But I really wanna know how to use a sythisizer cuz I don't wanna have to build my entire song around some pre-set factory made loops so it sounds as if I've just banged out some crap tune on Ejay! If anyone could help me I would appreciate it:) :)
oh yeah if anyone knows a good synth for trance that would be cool... |

Most of those things come with HELP-FILES
a couple of years back, when i didn't know much about filters and stuff I sat thru the entire ReBirth help file. It taught me alot about step sequencing and filters and stuff. If you really wanna learn more about it, you'll have no problem spending some hours with that stuff. |

it all depends on the type of software synthesizer. if you want to get real technical, check out the different types of synthesis. theres lots to choose from, each with there own pros and cons.
some off the top of my head:
granular synthesis (real cool time warpish efx)
additive synthesis
modular synthesis
theres bunches more, but ive kinf of fallen out of the whole synth production note of music.

Maybe this thread should be moved to the Production Studio forum.
