Aren't AcidPlanet's contest more about re-arranging the original rather than making a full remix? It always seems the way they describe 'how to do it'...
BOOsTER
you can do something totally new and use just what you want...

I believe the only rule is that it must stay "recognizable" taht it's a remix of that tune ;)

Ellen Allien has a track up on beatport for remixing as well...July 21st is the last date to download the samples

dont see much in that track..the original is pretty lame...hopefully it gets remixed well....

Not really - they give you that description because the site is owned by Sony, and they offer a free version of Acid so *anyone* can attempt a remix. You don't *have* to use it though, and they explicitly mention that in the FAQ.

My F&P remix doesn't sound anything like the original (not saying that's good or bad, just saying). Most members probably do the rearranging thing, but every now and then you hear some really kick-ass tracks on there.

P.S. Liam, the Ellen Alien track was mentioned in the first post. :p

On the Beatport remix contest for Magma, it says the following:

"--- Submission INfo

Magma remixes should be send to : [email protected]

in 192kbps mp3 format.

Files larger than 10 MB will be immediately deleted and not listened to."

So basically, no *real* dance/trance/house tunes?!

What a bunch of tools... I should submit 9.99MB of static :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

If you're concerned, make it a VBR mp3 if you're having trouble fitting it in the size constraints.

For the beatport contest, read this:

"By submitting your Remix-Recording to beatport.com you agree for downloadable reproductions of your remix to be distributed via the beatport.com website without limitation and with no financial compensation.
Any other commercial use of your Remix-Recording will be subject to a special agreement between you and BPitch Control. You hereby agree -should the ocasion arise- to enter into such an agreement in good faith on customary terms."

Well, no financial compenstation... I guess the only prize is exposure... but exposure on beatport might be worth its weight in gold for an amatuer producer. Of course, if it gets pressed you can make an arrangement with BPitch Control (*if* they want to give you anything!)
