I'm thinking about buying a Novation Nova desktop synth (not the supernova 2).

Whats anyone's experience like with one? it sound ok?
Does the vengeance soundset work in it ?

Well im not looking into buying that dude, but im interested in the Novation X Station 49. Looks awesome for an all in one audio/midi/interface :D

I have a supernova II rack and I say: I LUV IT! I've already had a Virus B, but I sold it long time ago.
Really, it's a good fight: Virus B vs. Nova (the same league prices). I think Virus B is more versatile, excellent leads/strings/pads. The Nova is excellent as well, but it sounds the same sometimes (you tweak, tweak and it's the same!). However, my SNII makes an awesome drum kits (specially for psytrance!), has a powerful filter saturation and an incredible OSC sync engine.
But the better is to buy both synths.
Tons of trance tunes used the Novation's sound. You won't be wrong using this synth.

No info of soundsets for it, but i just recently bought the Nova laptop. Really awesome little(very tiny!!) synth. The level of control over the oscs is nice.. sync skews, soften, vco/dco mode, waveform triggering etc. Has its downsides tho. Only 16 voices poly, only 6 parts multitimbre, beeps at every keypress(!!), sound tends to be a bit on the digital side sometimes. All in all i still love it :tongue2 even run few other synths thru its inputs.

I've got the Novation Nova and in my mind it's a great synth. Obviously I haven't much to compare it to (other than VSTs) but I find it so user friendly & tweakable - very easy to f*ck about with!
The Vengeance sound set is pretty damn good aswell.
It also does pretty good Fast PWM square waves - check this sample out (straight out of the Nova). Took 5 mins to program with all those lovely knobs :)

I have a Nova and it sounds the same as the bigger Supernovas...only difference is Fm and other things which allow you to create different sounds that are not going to sound right on the Nova...but it's the same synth engine...plus the Nova has a GREAT vocoder. The Vengeance soundset is great...I have it. It was almost $70. :)

From the desktop. How much are you paying for one out of interest?
DJ Twenty
Not sure yet, I'm looking on places like ebay..

How much you reckon for a decent 2nd hand one? about £200ish
Stuart Silver
Yeah, I paid about 200 quid for mine - theres a few on ebay at the minute for that price. Can't go wrong really!

I don't get why people never mention the regular supernova, not the II. I have a supernova and like it. The supernova isn't a great all around synth, but it is good at what it does, especially basses and pad plucks.
