Hey guys.
I trying to be (!) producer of psy and dark trance but I think that my gear is near to....nothing (reason 2.0-ozone-nero sound editor-sound card on board-PC pentium4)
So I'm ready to spend about 300 Euros to buy something that can make the difference and push me one step forward.
In a matter of fact I'm a little bit confuse because I would like a lot of things (audio card or expander or synth software or..)and my money are not enough for the moment.
What do you suggest ?:) :conf:

Chronosis
A keyboard if you don't have one already, otherwise a better soundcard.
RiCo
You can get a Nord Lead 2 for cheap on eBay...that is one of the staples of Psy, hehe.

I forgot to say that I have an Maudio keyboard but I use it only to test and listen sounds and sometimes for some melodies...
Hehm..I have to study and search a little bit because I don't know what Nord lead 2 is or battery2 or vanguard:sadgreen: (really rookie heh?)
Really apreciate your help;)
I'll tell you what I'll decide:rolleyes:

Sparkunian, (almost) all the psy producers use Nord Lead 2 (or even model 1), what's a GOOD virtual analog synth from Clavia (Sweden company). That isn't mandatory, but like the JP80x0 is overused on Euro-trance, the same happen with the NL2 on psytrance. So, you can buy a cheap NL2 rack on Ebay. But you may produce good psy tunes using only software, such as Native Instruments FM7, Pro-53; Novation V-Station; Vanguard and DiscoDSP Discovery (you can import NL2 patches into this synth). Yeah, you will use some soft sampler in order to load the drums samples (kick, snare, loops, HH etc.) You can look at Battery (Native Instruments company) or something like EXS24 sampler from (OLD) Emagic company or Halion. But as you alreday use the Reason, that isn't necessary, cos you can make the drumloops using your Reason. Psy trance tunes use a lot of leads filtered with HPF or BPF (Hi-Pass Filter/Band-Pass Filter), screaming FM leads and pitched voices with a lot of glide, so it's important to have a synth with these features (nowadays, it's already default).

Try the FREE KarmaFX Synth. The most psy-ish of all the VST's I've heard. Listen to the audio demos at the bottom of the page to see what I mean.

Oh, I really forgot...
the free soft VB-1 is overused for bass in psytrance. Try this one as well.

I have this, I'll have to work it out. Sounds good.

Vanguard is pretty good for squelches and fills etc, but it wont do hard psy leads for you. The filters on it are just too pissweak and it just has too much of a trancy sound rather than a psy one imho. Just cant get that hard psy sound of it for some reason :(

But then Cybernetica produces pretty good dark psy with just vanguard and albino. Its not the full on stuff though, more minimal and techy. He's posted plenty of tracks on these forums.. do a search and check them out, they are well worth a listen.

The only other one I can recommend is discoDSP Discovery. Its a nord lead 2 emulation and does a pretty good job of it.

Also Synth 1 and ofcourse the VB-1 for basslines.

For hardware, definately a Nord Lead or Modular would be a good start. The Virus of course is used in everything..hehe and the Waldorf Q series will do any wierd sound you can imagine. Most of these would cost you more than 300 euros though, so maybe stick to the software for now.

That KarmaFX synth sounds awesome too... check that one out for sure!
