Hi all,
I'm currently considering an update from my very stable Windows 2000 Pro to XP Pro (yes, it's not certain as I have my prejudices). Would you say this is recommendable for music production? Or would you advise to stick with win2k?
Thanks,
Wim |

I've heard people still prefer Windows 2000 over XP, but as a personal preference, XP is more stable than any windows OS I have tried. No More Blue Screen of Death!!

Well, our pc in the living room has had XP running for some time and we had nothing but trouble with it... It's went alot more stable since we reformatted it and installed Windows 2000. Isn't this acclaimed to be THE most stable Windows version instead of XP? |

going from what has worked best for me
id go for the upgrade.
out of all the windows O/S iv used
win 95, win98, winme, win 2000,
win xp has definetly been the best and most stable O/S
so id give it a go for sure mate.
hope it all works out for you. |

Just make sure you get service pack 2 before you connect to the internet.
Connecting to the internet without service pack 2 = ed:) |

If you get xp pro with sp2, then make sure you install sp2 before you install any other program....otherwise your system will become a malevolent mess. |

doesn't xp pro use much more RAM than any other OS? cause i recently bought some extra RAM for music production. |

depends , XP is well known in his visual-look more graphical so i suggest using windows classsic style theme regular curcors and sounds off other un-needed services in the background and stuff...
and the best thing is u can end up progress in one sec instead of seeing a blue window crap

Make sure to get the Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, mine came with it already, I've been running it for 3 months now, and I haven't had the first crash yet, compared to Windows ME which used to crash on me every month. |
