Urgent: Mixing Advice Needed

Hi guys,
I was just wondering if standard mixers were able to do something i wanted to do when mixing.
BAsically, I have the Cross-fader right in the centre, when i'm about to switch to the cued track (after lining up the beat). ALl of teh 3 equilizers are on 0. Then, I INtroduce one equilizer at a time from the cued track, starting with bass, then trebble, then mid. Switching accordingly, between the current track, and the cued track.
AS you know, the prblem with this is, that when the equilizers are off, i can't hear anything ont the phones....
The advantage of this, is that you can introduce a track, at any stage of the track, rather than just at the start.
is there anyway to get around my problem? |

You could use a mixer that allows you to select whether the cueing systems is "post-eq" or "pre-eq". An example of this is the Xone 92. From the manual:

With your current mixer, there's not a lot you can do, other than change your mixing style. I would say to use the upfaders instead of solely the EQ's, it's not usually necessary to cut all the frequencies completely if you are fading in the track as a whole.

i'd advise a rethink of mxing style. to me, it all depends on the track, i have no predetermined way of mixing it. generaly, tho, it's mid at 9 oclock, treble at 12, bass at 7 oclock or less, then slowly switch from the main track to this by fading the EQs. or sometimes, faderslams are in order, where i do QUICK cuts with the EQs (and soemtimes wished i had a 3rd arm) but thats normally when i'm spinning really nasty gritty electro or minimal techno.
anyways, the Xone:62 would also be a good choice. the cue is Pre-EQ only, but that fits you. |

are you guys aware of any other mixers with similiar functions? SOmethign on the cheaper end of the marekt. |

those mixers go for $2000,
scrap that... lol...
anyone know any other mixers that can do the same thing? |

You can find a Xone 62 for around $800 or so, a 92 for around $1349... that's in USD... |

$1349? The lowest I've seen is around $1600.

| i use a numark at the moment (and yes it sucks) but it has one feature that sorta helps. the kill switches, when they are applied they kill the frequency, but you can still hear it in the headphones. mixer is cheap, probably about $200 canadian...but then agian i think it does what you want it to do for a cheaper price than an allen and heath:D |

Shop around sucka!
Drew (Daniel?) @ DJ Mart can hook up a pretty decent deal too for TA's... I don't remember exactly the price but I'm pretty sure it was around $1500... This is for linear faders though, not rotaries... |
