Family Guy is the best thing to happen to comedy since I dunno when. Their style is pure genius...but the Simpsons are legendary. Like their new episodes or not, but The Simpsons raised our whole generation. As great as Family Guy is (and it *really* is), you can't compare them to the Simpsons. Their humour was never as random and in-your-face as Family Guy's, but those were different times...and they really set the standard on North American satire.
Homer Simpson is the ORIGINAL idiot dad. Don't ever try comparing someone else to him.
