So we just got back. It was a decent night. Different crowd from the last time Oakenfold was here.
Liquid Todd played a decent warm up set that included Seven nation Army.
Junkie really had the crowd the crowd going with a bunch of new material that I had not heard him play before. Of course he played Beauty Never Fades and he ended with his mix of Beastie Boys Fight for your right to Party.
I know there's a lot of Oakenfold haters out there, but he played a decent set with minimal trainwrecking - he would quickly correct it. A criticism would be that he started off playing really progressive and that just ain't going to cut it after Junkie. So his set did progress nicely and he was banging away by the end. His last three tracks were Rush by Mark Norman, Greece 2000, and Traffic. Traffic actually made sense for his set. Also, not one single Jesus pose from him. Maybe somebody told him or he reads TA.
I can't remember the name of his encore song. The crowd wanted more, but that was it. An unusually early night a for New Orleans party.

I'm bumping my own thread becasue I think it's sad that no one from my area would even reply. To think that I have been working on starting a promotion for New orleans. This is demoralizing.
Sveta
Herb, i'm not from your area but it sounds like you had fun. Good. Next weekend in Houston?

Thanks, Sveta. We'll see about H-town next weekend. It all depends on work.

I really wish I had the money to get out to see a show in NOLA sometime. Ive heard nothing but great things and have alot of myspace friends that really seem to enjoy it. As my recent finances stand..doesntlook like I'll be getting out to NOLA unless I get booked there..perhaps.

best of luck bro and glad to hear it went off well. Armin didnt play?

Yeah, the atmoshpere in New Orleans is usually pretty good at these shows. The people are pretty chill, but for the most part not that knowledgeable about that type of music. Of course, there are exceptions, and some people really into know, but most people are just there have a good time which is cool. Not pretentious here. What's also nice about NOLA is that we don't have last call.
No, unfortunatley, we didn't get Armin even though he's not my favorite at the moment. He had a decent turnout considering it was a Monday night when he came here back in nov 2003. I had seen him quite a bit during that time period, and he really banged it hard that night for 4 hrs for only $10 ticket. It would have been nice to have him here.
All my friends were really impressed with Junkie, but I figured that because he is so engaging. They keep asking me to play the Ultra 2004 video so they can see Junkie.
