Usually a promo vinyl is one that is used for "promotional"
purposes. Perhaps limited distribution to see how well it is received before more pressings or early distributions to DJs to get some exposure for the track.
If I'm wrong on this, someone correct me plz.
For the same track being pressed on different labels, I would say that comes down to your preference. I have heard that some people believe that a track pressed to be played at 33 rpm's has better sound quality than one pressed for 45 rpm play. If this is true (I don't know if it is or not) than perhaps you should select the label that has your tune pressed at 33. Speculation on my part of course.
Again, if I'm wrong, anyone can correct me. |

It's likely that they'll both play the same so if you want to save a buck, just get the regular vinyl. If you want something with collectability, get the promo. |

Promo's are exactly the same as normal releases, sometimes promo's are just a plain white label but the same tracks are on it that would be on the full release.
Also promo's shouldnt cost more than the full release, it all depend's on how quickly you want the record, if you want it quick buy a promo, if you can wait buy the full release :) |

yea anjunabeats is a very good example, for instance if you take alook right now, you can only see the smith & pledger - northern lights promo, which has been there for quite some time i believe. Now the release will be sometime this month, i guess its just having the tracks before anyone else does  |

Yea I hear ya, I would say half the labels do what your saying, and the other half do what he is saying, anjunabeats always charges more for their promos. :) |
