mission accomplished :D

well this just means less oppertunity to drink the $6 island rum I've been forced to down recently.

Beer will be a nice, 'easier on the body' change of pace from that sadistic island rum devil fire drink.

LCBO, everything should be sold in grocery and convenience stores. LCBO is , first they go from closing at 11 to closing at 10 and now this?? dieee ONTARIO LIQUOR MONOPOLY!

"An independent panel investigating alcoholic beverage sales in the province recommended that Ontario allow beer and wine to be sold in grocery stores." --- this should be done!

I usually only buy beer also but 99.9% of the time I buy it at the LCBO near my place. I like the feeling of coming from the hot weather into a nicely decorated and well AC'ed store, stop by the lady giving free sample shots of Irish whiskey, stroll along the aisles checking out their new selection of products, investigate the content of their colorful looking coolers, walk by the vintage section and laugh at how much cheaper I got my Grand cru St-Emilion Bordeaux last year when I was in France....Once at the beer section, I usually grab a 6-pack of one of the Belgian brands along with some single tall cans of other brands I would like to try that day. Stop by the whiskey sampling lady again on my way to one of the many cash registers, and go on my way to enjoy the sun with that beautiful invention best experienced cold: BEER!

It won't be the same but I guess that aslong as the beer store is still open, there is no need for riots yet :whip: :whip:

I hear the people that go on strike MAY be picketing in front of the stores...I'd LOVE to see how people will react to that!

LOL, and turn into America?

I don't mind LCBO being controlled by the government at all. Everytime I go into LCBO, I get nice music, clean aisles, nicely organized store, and an informative staff.

Not too mention, their selections of alcohol all meet safety regulations and go through taste testers before being sold. I like that I can go in and pick up any beer from, say, Eastern Europe, and know it will be one of the best that region has to offer.

Yeah, they close at 10pm, but big deal, by that time my pre-drink is well under way. Actually, the store closing at 10pm helps me organize my evening better.

Thanks to all who support the LCBO. You are the reason why the LCBO maintains the standards it does and goes through the trouble it does to offer the best possible retail experience.

Let all the haters cry for privtization. I'm sure they wouldn't mind dingy grocery stores selling booze to people that have already been drinking and minors. You really think social responsiblity is in their best interest or profit?

And on a further note, I didn't see anyone bitching about the garbage workers or TTC unions when they threatened to strike. Let me make it clear, the union doesn't want it to come to a strike situation, they just want what they feel is fair, and this is the way to accomplish that.
