well, i can kinda sit on both sides of the fence on this one... i agreee with the comment about the same couple of djs, playing most everywhere and playing a similar sound most of the time. still blows my mind i can go onto a dancefloor and hear a reputable dj flog your ears with hours of the same sound. (but i grew up kinda old school -- or allschool as it were)
and with respect to truly underground sound... the party scene i helped to create in northeast PA was actually very good for quite some time. far better than many i had seen. but they lacked the heavy hitter draw that a marquee city like miami has, so i dont think it will be able to hold on with the radio and tv bombardment of hip hop and e edm.
south florida does always have something going on.. and will continue to for quite some time. it is one of the few places you can see all of your favorites in just couple of months... almost anywhere else you would wait a year or years for that priveledge.
so as good as miami is i thnk it could be better, but these are still business people and clubs are businesses, so, all that matters is what is in the till at the end of the day.... and that will keep those same faces playing those same tunes. cant have it all. but all in all, you definately dont get much more than you do right here in south florida |

hey when we talk about nightlife, miami is IMO the sencond best in this country, behind NY.
when we talk about woman, we probably have the best women in this country too, i have a couple of people told me this, and they have been to europe, ny, cali, ect. i mean here in miami, we have a pretty good melting pot, we have central americans (mexico, nicaragua, guatemala, panama, ect.), we got south americans (columbians, venezuelans, BRAZILIANS, argentinos, chilenos, equador, peru, ect.), miami has the caribeņos (CUBANS, puerto ricans, hatians, jamaicans, and the other islands), we got white and europeans, all those people from all those countries are mixing and thats why you get all those beatiful people, and thats why miami has some of the most beatiful people (physical and emotianal) in this country and we definetly compete with the world.
when we talk about the music, i mean we have it pretty good, there is more house than anything, but so what, we also get every other style pretty often. but miami is so rich in music, we got that salsa, merengue, bachata, (my friend went to cali and most people over there don't know what bachata is), we got that jazz, got that latin jazz, i know where talking about edm here, but were very rich on that too.
i don't know too much about doing events and all, but once i am finish with school and i start working, i am think of just renting out warehouses and doing bad ass parties and raves, i will find out about doing this things, or i find somebody that knows about it and just putting the money for it and doing it, to bring that underground scene that some of u say we don't have.
since i have joind TA i have seen that you guys are pretty close, and love the music and all, if there is someone that should be doing the underground scene thing, i say is US, we got the potential and the desire to do it, i mean you all do house parties and all, lets take it to the next level. i have seen pics of you guys in a hotel or something for the convention of TA or something, i say we make that into an annual TA event, like a rave type of thing. anyways i am getting hyped up here, sorry about that, a final statement:
Miami has Winter Music Conference, i think that is one of the biggest weeks in the whole world for EDM, , and now global gathering is coming, Miami ing rocks just for that. |
