Well It's a bit short - but I guess you knew that.
The start is good - the bassline is kind of retro, but in a good way. The breakdown that comes in after about a minute works musically, but the sounds aren't anything special and the subsequent build up doesn't really grab me. When everything comes back in the mix is a bit messy - the bottom end sort of mushes together a bit and the rhytm loses its punch.
I think it's a good tune with strong arrangement and melody - but needs refining: stronger sounds for the pads and lead, add some spacious reverb or make better use of the stereo field, eq to seperate the bassline and kick drum and low-end of the other sounds, etc.
Lots of potential but sounds like a "work in progress" at the moment. |
