just curious about this as i see from armins site that asot gets broadcast in southern california on indie fm. does it get broadcast anywhere else in america and how big is this indie fm??

i mean are we talking asot having a few hundred listeners or a few thousand americans giving it socks to the best trance in the world?? :D

unfortunately its really big. a little to big for comfort b.c that seems to be the only radio show that people even know about other than GDJB. theres a lot of other really good shows around today. i personally like john digweed on kiss 100

Darkbeat said it right... most people I know who are not TA's and that listen to edm, only know of GDLB and ASOT. It's a shame that more ppl in America don't listen to other weekly/monthly broadcasts, but I have a more positive prospective on this.

Ok, most of us here love this music to death, that's why we post here. We hear about the latest tracks, here samples of them/get promo's, and then know what to go out and get. Yet, for all the ppl out there who don't even know what tranceaddict is or that there is a world of forums out there for this music, ASOT is a way for them to hear the newest tunes on a weekly basis.

This way, they can still keep in touch with the music they enjoy. And If they get really interested, maybe then they will start looking things up and become immerced in the community.

In America, you have to start somewhere. Some 6 years ago, I was lucky enough to be introduced to the music by a friend/dj who spins out. Not everyone here is introduced to the music this way.

So yes, not everyone is a fan of ASOT. But it is one of the most widely known broadcasts that actually reflects our music culture. And to me, that is most important. The less dance cheese (*cough* djsammy) that is played on the radio the better. That is what has tainted Americas View of Trance.... to most, "everything is techno and it sucks".

This has to change... and the only way for that to happen is for more stations to play music that ppl in our community truely appreciates.

there's no edm on the radio here in the nation capital:(

well to be honest i'm a TA obviously, but other than asot and some live sets that i download the odd time asot is the only way i stay up to date. what other shows are you guys listening too is it those ets shows etc??

after all i guess asot is really just one mans taste i.e. armins, but i'm sure only the best stuff gets on the show so i didnt think i was missing out on any new stuff. :nervous:

so asot gets broadcast on radio in america, this seems very strange especially since armin usually presents in dutch cant imagine that going down too well in the states. i know armin is well loved in parts of america new york etc is this on the strength of his radio show thou?? is there really a listenership in there thousands in the US for asot every week??? wonder what the global listenership is??

most members on this board from the states, probably - which still can't be THAT many. dance music is somewhat trendy in cities etc so i think everyday people will tune in when they hear the beats (if they are interested at all... regardless of whether or not it's ASOT) it's almost too easy for them... i never tune in because i don't like much about armin. some of his track selection is good, while the majority of it bores me

+1.

However, I don't know anyone, who's not a TA, who has heard of either ASOT or GDJB. Probably cause all my non-TA friends are into heavy metal & hardcore.

But ASOT is presented in English, even in the Netherlands.

indie fm isn't a big station here in LA, and basically indie fm's core audience probably doesn't know ASOT exsists, it plays at like 2am saturday nights.. so basically no one knows about it here.
