I know, I've heard them ;)
Although I can come up with some decent stuff myself with those two, there aren't up to Icone standards heh. :toothless

Sequencer:

Ableton Live 5 - €499
can't get enough of it. I've been with Ableton since Version 2 and I'm still addicted. I work well, quickly, and efficiently with it and I'm not looking to change anytime soon.

VSTs:

ProSounds PS-1 - €119
I've gotten so many great sounds out of this I can't even begin to describe. I covers everything from pads to leads, and it's great at every single one. The presets are great starting points and there are SO MANY of them.

RGC Audio zeta+ - €149
One of the best purchases I've made in the past two years. the Zeta has helped me improve my sound in hops and bounds. great for almost every sound imaginable! it's flexbible and it sounds wonderful. the effects are clean and almost worth the money spent alone. thousands of presets are around on different websites as well.

Synth1 - $0
A great synth to learn with and wonderful for strings and pads and the occasional bleepity bloop. Great for stuff that sits right in the back of the mix and builds everything up. It's free as well :D

Crystal - $0
I get the most unique sounds of of Crystal. Amazing atmospheric effects and pads make this another one of my favorite synths. I always use at least three instances of Crystal in every track I do, and it always adds something a little different. every producer, no matter what genre of EDM, needs to give this one a try.

Superwave 8 - $0
another great general purpose free synth! this one is also pretty easy to get the hang of for those really wanting to produce their own sounds.

Operator - €129/$149
this one's not a VST - it's for Ableton live users only. definitely one of the best approaches to FM synthesis I've seen around. infinitely flexible. some of my best bass sounds were made with Operator!

you are right.. but with the right effects its very nice. you know i think its one of the few (soft) synths that have character. even if its hissy sounding. well i used to think that :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: now i only use it layerd with something sweater :D

but then again... i never understood why ppl use z3ta for example. i hate its sound

Have you gotten Operator yet? there's a sale until the beginning of August, I suggest you get it while it's cheap. it's one awesome synth!

what is Emulator X like dude??

i got the sampler with my soundcard havent had the chance of installing it all yet, so much stuff! :D

Emulator X is the most important part of that whole package! It's by far the best soft-sampler available - it's still got a few kinks in it but it beats the hell out of anything else I've used. You can spend a good week just going through the "Producer" sample disc (but of course you're still better off getting some kick-ass Akai samples for it).

If you've got it kicking around, then install it right now (along with the Producer disc) - trust me, you won't be disappointed. Just make sure you download the latest updates from Emu's site because the version that ships with the hardware is buggy.
