Hi all,
I've a serious problem with my soundcard (EMU 1212M). I turned on the computer a couple of days ago and there was no sound at all! I looked at all the volume levels, outputs etc. and they were all fine - up to 0 db where they should be but there was nothing getting through to the amplifier. I've checked the amp, speakers and cables and they are working perfectly. What has happened? Has my soundcard packed in?
Any replies appreciated. |

Thanks for the reply. Thankfully I've just sorted the problem by downloading the latest drivers. According to some guy at Nusystems there have been "issues" with this card but everything seems to be okay now. |

i had an emu 1820...great features, great price...but that didnt count whent i start producing.total disaster ... the asio drivers were disapearing oncein a while...my CPU meter was runing up and down and i was never been able to finish 1 track properlly...without 20 rebooths or 5 times reinstaling the drivers.total disaster...
sell the sound card as emu will not release any good drivers soon..

no matey....theres nothing wrong...he used the 1.5 drivers i think or 1.7 and both vers have big issues.the 1.6 was the only vers that was stabile for me but that didnt help a lot since from time to time the asio drivers where disapearing during playback.i dont know how the latest drivers are now but for sure in a year of waiting for some proper dirvers emu lost a lot of their cutomers and image.a mate of mine owns an online store in uk and is still stuck with 4 1820 and 3 1212...for the last 6 months...
i hope the new drivers did improve a lot cause their forum was full of complains regarding the all range of emu sound cards. |

Dear oh dear. I installed the 1.8 drivers a week ago and everything ran okay for about three days then the exact bloody thing happened again!!! I then had to uninstall the soundcard, re-install it and re-download the new drivers. Why the hell does it run perfectly one minute and then not at all the next? A joke. If it happens again I will have no choice but to buy a new soundcard. Tonkproject, what soundcard do you use now? |

matey...for sure sell the card as soon as you can.i was advice to go for RME and i did....twice more expensive than EMU but it does worth every penny.as an example...i had an nice tune that i couldnt finish because EMU cannot handdle 16 layers with no plugins or vst's.so i was stuck at 4:45 min with the song, the CPU meter was more than unstable at 512 latency(65-70% with clicks + couldnt support my tc cards.... bought the RME 9632 + 4AI4S and load the song again...SURPRIZE..at 128 latency my cpu was 23% + f***ing stable.
next project that i start had almoust 20layers + 30 plugins + 2 vst's and cpu around 30%...
i know RME is expensive but if you want to forget about issues and be concentrate on your work i would advice you to buy one.the sound quality it is more than better + it is friendly with UAD and PoCo.
of course it is very imp how you setup your system, what motherboard you got and on wich PCI you install the sound card.

Emu can "handle" plenty, it's just that all the f*cking whiners on this board don't RTFM and set it up properly. Some of the software is a little buggy, yes, but I've got the same card and none of the problems that you describe.
By all means, if he can't get it working properly then he should get rid of it and get a new sound card. But do we really need to be audience to your crusade against Emu cards? |

not at all...i'm still a little bit mad...i've been waiting for their drivers so long instead of just replacing the card(1 year).:whip: |
