My sister is going into her first year at Sheridan College this September, and is struggling to find a place to live (preferably close to the college, within walking distance)...does anyone know of any basement apartments or shared houses that are suitable for a first year student at a reasonable price?
any help is greatly appreciated!
thanks
{edit} also if anyone knows of any web resources or listings that are very helpful to finding a location please let me know |

There are not many basement appartments in the Sheridan College area due to the houses in River Oaks (the area on the north border of the campus) not having proper design to get zoned for basement appartments.
South and southwest of the campus you -might- be able to find basement rentals, but they will be snapped up pretty quick.

Try this for classifieds listings: http://www.haltonsearch.com/

There are two apartment buildings across the street from Sheridan (16 floors and 19 floors repspectively) that are leased by CAP REIT.
Student ads looking for roommates in those buildings range from $500 to $650.
Best bet she team up with a friend and rent a unit ($1100 to $1300 / month) rather than risk possibly being stuck with a crazy who can't keep a roommate. |

I went to Sheridan for a number of years and there are tons of places in the area. You may find some help on the Student Union Website: click here
