If you want a particular style that he plays, I guess it's a bit hard defined. I suppose through the mid and late 90s Mr. Coe played what could most aptly be dubbed 'Progressive Trance,' albeit a far cry from what today might be classified under that genre. Through the early part of the decade Sasha found himself caught up in what many people might refer to as the 'sleepy' progressive house phase, although this is quite obviously debatable. The melodies of the 90s were, for a time, sacrificed (along with BPMs) for chunky, driving, percussion-driven sounds. From 2002 - 2004, Sasha seemed to find himself returning to his roots, bringing back a more melodic brand of music as evidenced by his release Airdrawndagger. As the early years of the 2000s have progressed, along with technology, Sasha found himself searching for his niche in the oh-so-trendy techno/acid/electro/minimal influenced 'progressive' house sounds. With the influence of Ableton Live software, Alexander has since been working on carving himself into his own genre, undefinable by any one term. He has incorporated breaks, hip-hop, deep house, rock, electro/techno-influenced tracks, and what is now most aptly dubbed 'progressive' house into one big melting pot. So, if you can come up with a name for that, have at it. But it's by no means trance. |
